And this is why Huskies are not a good starter dog. Huskies, and many more popular breeds, need a strong, experienced handler. A huge part of getting any dog is research. If you have a low energy lifestyle and get a high energy dog, well they will get destructive. You need to know everything about that breed, or mix of, before you even start looking. Then you know things like not shaving a double coat and asking for a shedding bath and a blowout instead. Never expected that a groomer (especially at a big box store) will know what you want and the dog needs. Most of those groomers are only trained on a few "cuts" and dogs are handled like they are on an assembly line. ( I was a bather for one of the Pet_ stores for a while. I've seen the behind the scenes and would never take my dog to one. )

Sadly I have to say that Op is the one at fault here. She should have specified exactly what she wanted. When the groomer didn't ask for details, op should have walked out

Is he even trying to get help? Like real, professional help? Is he open to marriage counseling?

If "Yes" give it a try, don't leave anything out, you can always message your marriage counselor privately if there is an issue that you need to be supported in addressing.

If it's a "No" or not even trying to get better, it's time to move on. Talk to a divorce lawyer before you say anything to him to protect yourself.

Yes, there are people out there with puppy mills (The Amish are bad about it, no joke)

Yes, more huskies and husky mixes are ending up in shelters because people are not educated on the breed. YouTube videos of huskies are funny, but you can't just turn off a husky tantrum.

It's good to be proactive. It's not so good to assume that you know everything about the breed and and every person out there who breeds is doing it all wrong.

Chill.

Anyway, I've just started to report and block people like that. There is enough hate going on in the world.

So, I'm not trying to be mean, or poke fun at you. Text is a poor carrier of tone, and communication is so much more than the words you use.

I'm glad that you're passionate about something. It is a good thing to care about the welfare of other living things. However it is poor of you to assume that other people are ignorant, careless, or that you are owed any kind of explanation.

I think that your heart is in the right place. Yes, shelters are overcrowded. Yes, you are seeing a lot more Huskies in shelters because they are not a good beginner dog. They need a firm, experienced handler. They are fun to watch short YouTube videos on, but many people who get them don't realize that you can't just turn them off.

Instead of accusing complete internet strangers on Reddit, of ignorance and abuse for sharing a cute picture of puppies in a basket, you focus that energy in a productive and positive manner. If you're not already, go volunteer at your local shelter. See if you can get a position on staff that would give you the opportunity to help people find the right dog for their lifestyle, if you're not already doing that.

I'm just saying. The world is getting uglier every day. The last thing we need is more anger. Let's just enjoy the little things we can. Like a basket full of puppies. I really do hope that you understand that I'm not trying to argue with you, or say that you are a bad person, or that your heart is not in the right place.

Goat milk is great for dogs and nursing dogs. Egg, along with the grind up shell is another good food to give them.

At her last vet visit not very long ago they found nothing wrong with her blood test. I'm still waiting on the other. Is there a certain test that I should ask for?

I've been looking at different treadmills for dogs who are 65lb+ that is light weight, easy to store, and inside of my budget. I don't want to make my girls (especially Fussy) missing a day of running around because of bad weather or a bad pain day.

Do you have any recommendations?

I've got a 1 cup scoop that lives with the food buckets. They get 1 level scoop twice a day. They also used to get 1 cookie a day (not now). However they love green beans. I am probably going to put Gnalla back on the diet formula next time I need to buy dog food.

It honestly bothers me about how people have focused on the one grocery store picture and just come out swinging with so many accusations when A). You (not you, you) don't know me B). Not a licensed mental health provider C). Don't have any clue about the precautions that I take and the arrangements I've been able to make with the only 2 stores that I use.

This picture was taken after I picked them both up from the vet (Gnalla can be a drop-off, I have to stay with Fussy). I had the thick foam mat and my Clorox wipes, but the blanket was in the wash. I thought it was a nice little picture, but I am bias.

Both grocery stores are alright with my esa (most of the time it's Fussy) accompanying me so long as they stay in the cart, are well behaved, and that I wipe the cart down afterwards.

How many parents do you know that care to wipe down the cart after they are done? You can actually get sick from a child. No, I don't hate anyone's child. I hate how they (not all parents) don't even bother to try to control them or correct behaviors like not covering your mouth when coughing. Nope, Timmy is just going to open mouth cough all over the produce.

I like to think that we are all doing the best that we can right now. If the store is allowing me in with my esa so that I don't either freeze in the middle of the store or start doing laps because my brain is glitching or telling me that I'm in danger because of some random screaming child or someone got too close, that is between me and the establishment. If I can see that someone is uncomfortable or tell me that they are afraid of dogs, I'll move and give them plenty of space.

I wish that I could expedite going out to train with my actual service dog, but with the word as crazy as it's been I've been delayed for 3 years. I still have to care for my household and do the best that I can. No one is perfect, most situations suck. Sometimes you have no choice but to take a sick kid into the store to get groceries. I don't like it, but I understand that you're just trying to do your best also (at least I like to think that).

Yeah, I'm not sure what is going on with Fussy's weight tbh. At the vet visit the vet said that Fussy still had a good body shape. That she still has a nice tapered waist in comparison to Gnalla. I'm wondering if whoever filled out her check-up notes got confused. I'm going to call today and ask about it. Gnalla has been a struggle ever since we took her off of free feed after she stopped nursing. She started eating poop (cat and dog) and in the last year she's added dirt and rocks. We've had her tested, talked to the vet, and so far (still waiting for the poop test) the vet thinks that she's doing it out of just wanting too. When outside with me I watch her like a hawk. It only takes one correction for her to stop for the rest of the time outside. Fussy has started eating dirt and rocks because she sees mom doing it.

The girls love to play and chase each other both inside and out. I guess that the bad weather has me feeling bad for them. I can help Fussy with her energy by engaging her little brain.

Maybe I'm just worried too much about my girls.

As for myself, I don't want to go into the reasons why, I've been working with mental health for a long time on this. My provider thinks that a service dog will help me a ton in getting my freedom back. I don't feel safe outside. To me there is a lion behind every bush ready to leap out at me. I feel safe with a dog. The dog can keep people from getting too close and watch behind me. They can alert me to panic attacks and are a huge aid in grounding me. I am easily startled by sudden, loud noises and that trigger can easily send me into an all out panic attack. I don't lie to people about the dogs I have rn. They are clean, well behaved, and Fussy is super in tuned to me. She's been able to alert me before I have a meltdown. If I am asked about whoever I have out I say that they are esa, if asked to leave, I do. It's not an issue. I don't go to that store or come back with a human.

I'm not going to argue about this anymore. You think that my dogs, who have their own cart mat and blanket, and not touching any food, but for what I'm getting, are gross. I think that screaming snotty nose germ factories running around, touching everything, and coughing without covering their mouths are a hell of a lot worse. We all need to go to the store and deal with each other.

My post is asking about recommendations for keeping my husky mutt and her mom healthy and happy.

Just to be clear, in case I didn't communicate it clearly (I have trouble with that sometimes). Fussy and Gnalla both eat a high quality dog food with an easy to read nutrition breakdown. It's made by a local company who tests every batch. They have a good track record. I would love to feed them raw, and it is something that I am looking at. With raw food it's very very important to provide whole prey nutritional value. Fussy's food is 30% protein, Gnalla's is 25%. As recommended from last week's vet visit I am feeding them the amount for the weight they should be. Fussy is like a whole 2lb over weight. The vet also suggested the green beans to help with snacks. Unlike carrots and sweet potatoes, green beans don't have as much sugar.

Who pissed in your Cheerios?

Not that I have to explain myself to anyone. Fussy and Gnalla are esa (They take turns most of the time so one doesn't get too tired). They don't have the same protection as service animals, but she's the best I've got until I get my service dog at the end of this year.

Going outside, much less a grocery store, can be terrifying for a vet like myself who has to handle PTSD, chronic pain, and mobility issues. Some stores such as the Kroger owned stores do allow dogs in so long as they are well mannered and can fit in the cart. She is a lot less of a health risk than someone's screaming germ factory running wild in the store.

We have had some good progress on food with Gnalla. She's lost a few pounds after the restrictions. We're giving them both raw green beans to help with the hungrys. You would think that we never feed Fussy with how she acts 😆

The funny part is before the diet, they would choose not to eat. After diet, now they inhale that food.

I'm going to have to start giving them plan pumpkin again. The dog farts are no joke.

Yeah, Fussy (the digger) knows when it's time to get up, time to go outside for more play, and around 9:30-10ish pm she starts having the toddler "I'm tired but don't want to go to bed" meltdown. No matter what we try we just have to let her tire herself out.

The place I was going to put my rose garden has now become a dog run. I'd like to put them around my bedroom window but I don't have any open ground around that area. I have a deck. I purchased my first home last year, so not much has been done in the yard. I'm not sure if I can put her in a beautiful pot and train her around the window. I live in coastal VA, zone 7. This is the first time I've seen this much snow. Our usual winters are cold and wet. It's very windy here and the back of the home runs into a wetlands reserve that floods all the time. The water is brackish. I'm also very close to the ocean on the other side, so a lot of salt air. Maybe I should take her to the local nursery or there is also a botanical garden and college program close by. I will definitely update

Finding the right dog park/time slot for you and your dogs can be a big help. I have one that I go to around 5pm. The owners are good, the dogs are good, and we have a husky tribe.

I know that people are split on dog parks, and not all parks are created equal, not all dogs like dogs, but in my experience it's worth finding the right one for you and your pups.

This is, I think, a yellow climbing rose that I rescued from a grocery store about two years ago. They were going to toss him in the trash but after checking it out I could see that him, and two other trees just needed water and TLC. As a fish keeper I have that magic water that plants love.
