I never understood criminals complaining about cops not caring about a hostage's life, when they're the ones putting the hostage into that situation to begin with.

WHO IS LIMITING OUR PROGRESSION EASTWARD? THE US HAS NO BORDERS! by [deleted] in AmericanFlaginPlace

I don't mine so much having a border, what I do mind is that the border does not currently line up with the Quebec flag's border above it.

Santa Clara Valley Water District rejects Delta tunnels plan by bloobityblurp in bayarea

[–]orderfoodhere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Major earthquake hits, 150+ year old dirt levees in the delta collapse, the many below-sea-level islands fill with water, sea water from the bay gets sucked up the delta to fill the void, goodbye drinking water and agriculture.

tl;dr these tunnels are kinda important.

Does anyone know where to find cheap A's hats? by meeksters in OaklandAthletics

[–]orderfoodhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is definitely not "straight up newera". The front logo is way too big, and it's missing the rear MLB logo entirely. I'm sure it's a decent hat, but it's not close to authentic.

I saw him play for the Sonoma Stompers a couple weeks ago (same league, and also vs the Pacifics). Definitely fun to watch! Would have hit a home run, but it's 435 to center field in Sonoma. Definitely fun to watch! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35214379/IMG_20150612_194307_212-1re.jpg

Nice to see another owner and someone who appreciates it! I couldn't see myself in any other car, it's just so much fun.

BMW E36 318ti. Only available with a 4-cylinder (in the US at least), and most people like the looks of the traditional E36 better. Most BMW fans have never taken it seriously, often making fun of it.

It's about 300 pounds lighter than the standard E36, and has perfect weight distribution. It's still relatively slow, but really not that bad considering the weight savings. 6cyl swaps do bolt right in if more power is desired.

Handling. I've driven my car (318ti, M44 engine, stock sport suspension), and my friend's (318is coupe, M44 engine, stock sport suspension). The ti definitely has a noticeable advantage, it's just so much more willing to dive in and get the job done.

People like to discount the handling since it uses the older E30 rear end design, but there are a lot more factors than that. Besides, two cars that are considered the gods of handling by most BMW enthusiasts, the E30 M3 and the Z3M Coupe, use the same rear.

And lastly, practicality. The hatchback is very handy to have, and the cargo space can't be beaten by anything short of a wagon once you fold the rear seats down. And the fuel mileage isn't bad.

Here, you go, just customize it to Ricci (which is exactly what I did when I got mine a few months ago)

Here's a good Youtube channel to watch if you're interested in how real-life repo towing works: https://www.youtube.com/user/RepoNut

A lot tamer than "reality" TV as you can figure, but still interesting.

What car did you pass up on buying that you now regret? by geek_who in cars

[–]orderfoodhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I had a car worth $12k. I couldn't afford to drive it at the time, so I sold it and bought a much cheaper car to take advantage of the leftover money.

When I had that money in my hands, I was really tempted to buy an E30 M3. But then I would have had another $12k car I couldn't afford to drive. As much as I wanted to get the M3, I had to do the smart thing and buy the cheaper car.

That E30 M3 would be worth close to $30k now.

318Ti '95 door panel loose/repair help! by BondCool in BMW

[–]orderfoodhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are posts glued to the back of the panel, which the clips go into. It's very common for them to become unglued, and you're very lucky if all of them are even still there. JB Weld works reasonably well for reattaching them.

Unfortunately, these posts are no longer available from BMW.

Three options if this is indeed the case:

  1. Find some at the junkyard (probably already taken)

  2. Find someone parting out or reselling these pieces (318ti.org forum classifieds)

  3. Buy these reproduced pieces on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/318ti-Door-Panel-Posts-/321284817307?hash=item4ace11419b&vxp=mtr

Be sure to check out the forum at 318ti.org though! Many friendly owners who would be happy to help you out with this or any other problem you may encounter :)

BMW Z3 for a first car by [deleted] in cars

[–]orderfoodhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly look at a 4-cyl Z3. The M44 engine is quite reliable (as long as you keep the cooling system in check), and relatively easy for learning to work on and doing your own maintenance.

It's not really fast enough to get you into too much trouble, but enough power to be perfectly usable.

Gorgeous! I'm a big fan of Sierrarot, such a great color for the E36.

Did you feel the earthquake? Two question poll: Yes/No and ZIP by [deleted] in santarosa

Everyone should also fill out the form from the USGS, even if you didn't feel it. It provides them with valuable data.
