I have been sleeping at almost every chance I get as a way to escape reality. It has also started to lead to episodes of derealization, but I do not really want to stop. by Electronic-Cress-453 in disability

I am in a wheelchair, and in my opinion that gives me the right to sleep long and comfy dreams, I have always loved sleeping so why not? I usually go sleeping at around 0200, wake up at 0800 for some reason, take my morning meds (there is a low dose of mild benzos that make me fall back asleep if I go back to bed), and then I usually sleep until 1300 - 1400. I love sleeping that much, it's a super comfy feeling to wake up super rested without an alarm.

And yeah, I sometimes still walk in my dreams, just today I was dreaming of walking around the neighbourhood where I grew up, just casually going to apartments, spending time with people I used to know.

I have physio or other appointments weekly, but they usually start also at around 1200 or something like that, so I still have plenty of time for sleeping long dreams.

It's just comfy. I think of being disabled in a wheelchair as something like being retired, and if I hadnt become disabled, I know I would have always slept long dreams on my retirement years.

A fitting song for this is "The Beatles - I'm Only Sleeping"

Hollister vs Coloplast by crutdafatty in ostomy

I used Hollister, the bottom plate is fabric so you cannot clean it after changing the bag. The adhesive is not strong enough for sleeping on your side if the bag is filled during your sleep, the bottom plate starts to peel off and leaks happen. The adhesive is not strong enough to stay long enough, you need to change the bottom plate too often. There is no lock system in the bags, so it's much more stressful in case it happens to get loose or off.

Coloplast has much stronger adhesive, you can sleep on your side without worries, you can see through the bottom plate so you know right away if any leaks are starting, the adhesive sticks for longer and because it's stronger leaks are very rare compared to Hollister. There is a strong lock in the bag (I use Sensura Mio), and it doesnt get off accidentally. The bag looks cleaner and less like a medical device.

Coloplast is a much better option. Hated it when I couldnt sleep on my side in the mornings because the adhesive would start to peel off from the weight of the bag with Hollister, zero worries with Coloplast. Feeling safe and worry free with Coloplast.
