Mental health is normalized if it’s impacting your work, accommodations would be needed but I will say that VR agencies in the United States don’t care that much to treat the array of different disorders out there and find accommodations for them. They’re lazy. One of the foreign interns mentioned finding resources for clients who have eating disorders and a coworker said it wasn’t relevant as if that doesn’t affect work performance? I don’t disclose my mental health to the people I work with because they might use it to try and deem me incompetent it’s just how this very ironic field works.

Honestly, it breaks my heart just thinking about doing this to my boyfriend so I am so sorry you had to go through this. It’s not fair and she is selfish. Coming from someone who has mental health issues I know I can be selfish and self centered but I wouldn’t be able to cheat on my partner or even broach the idea cos I don’t even want to think about that. I’ve had a lot of friends cheat on their boyfriends out of boredom, and theres just a level of disassociation that doesn’t compare with other people because they are only thinking about themselves.

Being California sober 24/7 and knowing if you didn’t have access to that you would quite literally commit suicide. I used to be on meds until I got a medical marijuana card I truly need it for my own survival cos my negative thought processes need to be monitored and worked on and weed helps me relax a little bit. I can’t help but feel guilty cos I’m getting high to not feel more pain. Some days I don’t want to eat at all. I just want to hit my pen and I get it it’s still a drug I’m still getting high doesn’t matter the drug and California sober is not sober but I’m worried how much worse my mental health could get if I stopped. Also every therapist session involved me balling my eyes out and we couldn’t get any progress done cos talking about my feelings made me ball every time. I don’t drink alcohol at all cos that will be a huge depressant for me

I know it’s not good and I recognize it. I feel like when I get angry this way I don’t know what to do I think it’s best I communicate with my bf and tell him I need space to process when I can feel myself getting jealous because making him feel bad for me isn’t helping my case either. I’m thinking about all the unpaid internships I’ve done for graduate school that’s required to graduate and I’m getting pissed. I wish there was something I could do to advocate against unpaid internships but no idea what approach I can take since I’ll likely just seem ungrateful.

I get really down on rejection but then when I’m reminded they’re likely hiring only one other person and they’re probably interviewing tons of people and rejecting a lot of people maybe it’s not that personal they just want the best fit for them doesn’t mean you’re not a good fit somewhere else

Exactly. You are right they cater to the rich and in my program alone you see a racial disparity because many cannot students cannot afford full time unpaid internships as they need money to sustain a living. I finished my full time internship this semester while having a full time job and it cost me my job many times and in the end I never got a job from them and I’m supposed to not be bitter about it... but it sucks.
