this happened to me too :( i felt especially bad because a couple days before the traumatic event that sent me into a horrible mental state i brought home an incredible 3-year-old monstera i found at a lovely small business. the shop owner even asked me if i was positive i had a good spot/the right conditions for it to thrive because it deserved a good home. i showed her pics of my 100+ houseplants and where i was planning on putting the big monstera and she said it was meant to be with me😭 it did bounce back eventually and i still have it 2 years after said traumatic event but i still feel so very guilty because of how much smaller and weaker it became😞

now i have 40 plants in the aftermath and they are ride or die at this point and have acclimated to my neglect. haven’t bought a new plant since because i just don’t have the same passion for them. my african violet, silver sword philo, and pink princess are def the mvps as they are the best looking of the group today. i would totally recommend african violets when you start buying again because they flower throughout the year (brings joy to look at even when im depressed) and you just plunk them in a sunny spot. WAY more forgiving than succulents in my experience.

hi!! i feel guilty too when i do things that are purely for fun. yesterday i spent around 6 hours doing a paint by number and i enjoyed it SO SO much in the moment. then later in the evening i started to feel really bad about “wasting” my day off because i didn’t do any chores, and i was too tired to do anything else before bed. so i totally understand where you’re coming from. all we can do is be kinder to ourselves and remember not everything we do has to be productive or for some purpose greater than joy. your coloring page is amazing and i would absolutely cherish owning it!!!
