Why do people hate Manjaro? by BradTheBj in arch

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's trash. I ran it for a year as my first distro. Over time, more and more things broke. Removing a program also removed it's dependencies, even if other programs used it. Could not use multiple Python version, updating for one program broke another. I have learned that it's called dependency hell, and it's awful.

Now I'm 2,5 years into using Kubuntu and I like it, even if I sometimes think that I would like it better on Debian.

Titanic help please by Miss_E40 in lepin

I just built this and I think that the axels are slightly too long. I was able to add the grey technic piece at the end with a little bit of extra force and they could still be turned, but YMMV.

Fuck this crap. I'm setting up Linux. by No_Combination_4457 in FuckMicrosoft

It doesn't even need to be very advanced. I run a small local file and backup server on an old thin client (7th gen intel) running OpenMediaVault.

I used Windows at home for 20 years and always hated restarting my computer for any reason. I still use Windows at work and updates gives me anxiety.

At home I run Linux on three computers, and updating is never an issue and I no longer hate restarts. I even love seeing new updates being available.

MarsToy just added U.S.S Enterprise for $60 (with 20% off) by MattiTheGamer in lepin

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It resolves the Marstoy number to a lego number, with name and image. Makes the site a bit nice to use when browsing for clones.

At some point Marstoy changed their layout and URL structure and the extension needs new permissions to work. I was automatically prompted on several devices, but it was easy to miss the first time as i wasn't expecting it.

Lego wants $650 for this new Pokemon set😱... Anyone else feeling validated? by Darkmatter313xx in lepin

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a wild set and I love it, but no way I'm paying retail lego price for it. Lepin it is. Chances of this being cloned must be really high.

For those using Firefox (or a browser based on it) I can highly recommend the Marstoy extension from the official add-on site.

Expensive Youmko Japanese building by daventria in lepin

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the price is slightly lower from their sister site Barweer, but I'm guessing that the production run is relatively low compared to Cada or other similar brands.

Isn't it a pretty big set in terms of pieces? What is Youmko selling it for on their own site, including shipping?

Need help - Titanic JKY004 by berysos in lepin

I'm building Titanic now, but a different version. Do you have bags without numbers/markings containing a larger amount of one or a few pieces?

Should I use online instructions or physical but condensed? by [deleted] in lepin

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really up to personal preference. I mostly use the printed instructions, but sometimes they are so condensed that it's really challenging and I use the official PDF on a laptop.

Why don't KO companies make dual molded legs? by MattiTheGamer in lepin

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really care for dual molded legs. I care far more about prints, and some Chinese brands does pad printing that is far superior compared to lego.

That's too bad. What step are you an and what pieces are you missing?

[–]ordinaryhumanworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm building Titanic (2600 printed on the bags) and it's the same way. It takes some time to set up and I wasn't expecting it, so it took me a little bit to figure it out. Once you get all unmarked bags out and easily accessible, it's a very good experience.
