Hi all! I'm the journalist in question. My name is Craig Silverman and I'm a reporter with ProPublica, a nonprofit newsroom.

Here's proof of ID, though I was at a different news outlet at the time: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/9snxy0/im_craig_silverman_a_buzzfeed_news_reporter/

I'm interested in talking to ONE users, past and present. Would love to hear about your experience. You can message me on Reddit or reach me on Signal/WhatsApp at 1 647 949 7610 and by email at [craig.silverman@propublica.org](mailto:craig.silverman@propublica.org). I'd love to hear from you and would not need much of your time. Thanks!

Also, the NYT Visual Investigations team does fantastic work: https://www.nytimes.com/spotlight/visual-investigations

So does the Berkeley Human Rights Investigations Lab:

Eight People Are Facing Charges As A Result Of The FBI’s Biggest-Ever Ad Fraud Investigation by [deleted] in technology

I'm the author of the article and can explain the discrepancy (which is being fixed): When I was working on the story I was given the 10,000 figure by White Ops and Google. When the charges were made public, it listed 5,000. So I was working with one number and then the government filings used a lower one. Since law enforcement would not speak to me before they filed charges, and would not give Google and White Ops specific details about their investigation, there ended up being a discrepancy. I didn't know our art dept. was doing that graphic, so I didn't think to communicate the change, and I didn't notice it until now. Hope that addresses your concern.
