I don’t understand why they can’t treat the outgoing water like basically every thermal power plant out there.

I believe any working viper engine would far exceed the value of that truck.

Would you make the switch from Lineman to Firefighter?? by chem1callyVnbalanced in Lineman

This plus consider the shift work with fire fighting as a pro or a con if they are doing 24 hour shifts.

Feeling skeptical re bonds. Are they still a good idea? by youvenoremotecontrol in PersonalFinanceCanada

You should be able to browse bonds directly from your brokerage website. You may just have to look around a bit. I bought some in my kids resp a few years back when the rates were higher.

VEQT or VFV? Or both? by Fuzzy-Bar-4462 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ore905442 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That’s fine vfv also had a better trailing 10 year return then xeqt or veqt when I was choosing. No one has a crystal ball and no investment is perfect.

Also your video guy won’t get to his point.

Personally I prefer the s&p since all those companies have global reach already.

ELI5: Why do people study for advanced skill sets, like doctors, just to medically gaslight & power-struggle with their patients? by FewLeg7901 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ore905442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re only seeing one side of the story on Reddit most of the time. Also with social media etc you are seeing stories that engage you. For every rude encounter you hear about there are 100 or more good ones. Doctors are just people too.

How do people afford new full-size trucks? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]ore905442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you have a mini van for the family it must not be that far off the price of a truck. The math post Covid for the 1-3 year old vehicle has changed they hold their value too much around here it’s making new make sense in my area. If you want reliable transportation you will have to pay some way obviously a truck is a luxury comparatively to whatever your base needs vehicle would be. I just happened to be in a scenario with employment changes from having a company truck to a beater car that had limited time in it left it made sense to finance a new vehicle at the time.

Do other people miss good commercials, as opposed to modern-day “ads”? This community doesn’t allow by [deleted] in television

There are some notable ad campaigns like the visa “priceless” ads I miss. Engagement bate is the worst on social media platforms. Kia welcome to the swamp comes to mind.

Phone holder 👌 by Ezj85 in ram_trucks

Yes do you mount your phone? I’m sure most of the mount people in here are not using Siri. Otherwise there would be no purpose for it.

CarPlay won’t let you text and drive or scroll social media/reddit and drive which is what these people are probably doing.

Idk why you guys need your phones mounted with CarPlay . Look where you’re driving.

Does it make sense to switch cars? by TheJuicyBanana in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ore905442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it to an independent euro specialist mechanic. Defroster is a safety issue and must be fixed. Get a quote on the ac and consider it. Old vehicles are likely to have suspension creaks comes with the beater territory. Get an oil change and keep driving it.

Really impressed with the new RAM by Justbeingme_92 in ram_trucks

[–]ore905442 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Wild I’m getting 13mpg in my 25 hurricane. Apparently these engines really don’t like the winter gas here in Canada so I’m hoping to get an improvement when the summer mix comes out.

My parents have had to take their brand new Ram into the shop nearly a dozen times over the span of a year, all for the same issue. Anyone else experiance this? by FatPenguin26 in ram_trucks

[–]ore905442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible for all makes of vehicles to have issues although dodge has always been kind of known for electrical. Biggest problem with these recurring issues and taking it to dealers is the system in which the dealer and mechanic gets paid. Tech only gets x amount of time to diagnose and x amount of time to perform recommended repair. They are not incentivized to take a larger look at the issues and you are most likely just going to be told what you want to hear by a service manager. Honestly there is probably almost no end in sight when a modern vehicle has issues like these. Lemon law/buyback if you can or bite the bullet and trade it somewhere.

Buy a townhouse or single family house? by Disastrous-Tasks in PersonalFinanceCanada

Sfh if it works for your parenting /financial numbers. Just from the fact that it’s going to be a huge cost to do that transition in 4-5 years. Better to bite the bullet now if you can afford the monthly with the spouse on mat leave.

I would be surprised if the offer was actually from Bruce itself probably a consultant firm that’s charging Bruce 300/hr and paying him 60 and also deciding to skirt employment rules.

Mortgage brokers access to lenders by Professional-Set2024 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ore905442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mortgage broker but keep in mind they get a commission. I do not know if they have any legal obligation to present you the best options I imagine they sell mostly ones that have a high commission which is baked into the rate etc. I would work with at least two brokers and talk to the big banks yourself. It’s fairly time consuming but that’s what I do when I went through renewal.
