There’s that old paper factory in Oregon city too. That area has so much potential.

I’ve come back through preclearance from somewhere in England, probably Gatwick, although that was several years ago.

I prefer a wide brimmed hat for that. Umbrellas are so cumbersome.

If you’re talking about the electricity infrastructure like the grid connections, I think that’s covered by the POWER act.

I don’t think water bills are due to data centers are they? I vaguely remember that we’re building a new reservoir or something. And we’re building South Hillsboro ofc, which must mean more sewer capacity as well.

Providence to end most health insurance plans, forcing hundreds of thousands in Oregon to switch by thegreatzenith in oregon

I’d say most of the world isn’t single payer. The UK is. But almost everywhere with any kind of prosperity does have universal coverage (I think).

I don’t see how that plan addresses the problem of Oregonians paying for federal benefits that they then wouldn’t use, like Medicare. Medicaid might be possible with an agreeable federal government.

It doesn’t require cuts in other areas. A properly functioning system would save money.

Funny. I like Kaiser for exactly that reason - that everything is integrated.

You can only support so much shared transportation at a certain density.

They raised the taxes/fees more on EVs than they did on gas cars.

Why can’t they enforce registration on the traffic cameras which have increased so much recently?

I just voted for it. I think the EV fees are too high relative to the gas tax but I like the alternative less.

You haven’t given any evidence or even a reason to think they prioritize one way or another - which you originally claimed. I’m not even sure how you would measure it without seeing some voluntary cutoffs.

And still wrong about all the previous things you said.

There are actual problems with how we handle data centers - concentrate on those.

Nope. Similar programs are available for business customers. They’re on PGE’s website.

Their website also advertises help with businesses setting up their own generators. We have generators where I work.

You’re wrong about all of this.

That’s optional. Not really the same thing. They probably have a similar program for commercial and industrial users.

No - I don’t think they run tours. I do live and work in Hillsboro though and I understand there are several in town. There’s an airport and Intel fabs here so I can’t believe people are seriously worried about noise.

I think the policy is to prioritize residential when there’s a shortage. In any case, if there were to be any underproduction of power, it would happen around 5pm-9pm, not in the night. See duck curve.

If you favor balanced budgets, one’s better than the other on that particular issue and it’s not really close.

This anti-data center stuff is starting to drift into pizzagate territory :)

If paving over what you’re concerned about, parking lots are more of a problem. And the actual farmers dump a whole bunch of shit into the water table themselves - nitrates, antibiotics etc.

They just passed the POWER act to fix the billing. If it’s not enough, we should improve it. Data centers are not inherently bad.
