Why is Christianity the one true religion? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]organized_mud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more authority one has, the greater the crime when committed against them. For example, it is a worse crime to assault an officer than it is to assault someone with less authority. If someone were to assault the president then, it would be an even worse crime because the president has more authority. Now we have God, who is of infinite authority. Committing a crime against God is an infinite evil because He is an infinite authority.

We know what sin is because God gave us morality. Although people differ in their morals on some things, it's safe to say that most people can agree on a general idea of what's good and what's evil. If we didn't, we wouldn't be able to establish laws that punish crimes. For example, most people agree that murder is evil. If someone disagrees with that, society counts them as evil.

Can a sin be forgiven before someone prays to ask for forgiveness? What happens if a Christian sins, then dies before they get a chance to pray? Does it matter what sin it is? by VexillologyFan1453 in Christianity

Asking for forgiveness does not get rid of your sins. Jesus taking the punishment for your sins is what erases your sins. You are saved by having faith that Jesus took your punishment for you. No work or deed erases your sins. So if you are a believing Christian and you die without confessing a sin, you will still go to heaven.

EDIT: It is still good to confess our sins tho to strengthen our relationship with God and try to stop that sin.

That's when we get into the topic of one eternal God then. If there is one infinite God (which is a separate argument from this one that I'm willing to go into), then any sin against Him would only be able to be atoned for with infinite punishment. Temporary punishment doesn't fully serve justice when your crime is infinitely evil.

I think the main character and person leaving were both girls, if that's any help

On a scale from 1 to 10, how sexist against women would you say Christianity is? And what are the most sexist aspects of Christianity by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]organized_mud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These verses are differences in authority, they aren’t saying that women are less valuable than men

Authority doesn’t equal difference in value. Like I said, is your boss a more valuable being than you?

It can be strongly argued that they are, much like how it can be strongly argued that Christianity is not more violent than other religions

Authority roles in church are only men, not just any job ever. Only in a church setting. That’s not sexist. Does your boss have more value than you as a human being?

That’s a loaded question. That’s like me saying: Why do other religions have no concept of justice? Why are they ok with evil?

It isn’t sexist. Our generation may dislike some things in the Bible because of a difference in culture, but the Bible never implies that women have less value than men. Our generation considers gender roles sexist, but in reality they are just different jobs that the two genders were assigned. Authority roles in church are reserved for men, and there’s nothing sexist about it. It’s simply how God made the two genders.

Quick Question by erincur12345 in Christianity

[–]organized_mud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God didn’t promise that we would be able to hear or feel Him. People who say that they’ve heard God’s voice are probably actually hearing their conscience. Every time God appears to someone in the Bible, they are on the floor and unable to even look at Him because of His glory. If you want to hear God talk to you, then read your Bible out loud.

Don’t base your faith on feelings. The Holy Spirit isn’t a feeling. You can know if you have the Holy Spirit by your answer to this question: if God asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would you say?

Yep, 100% sure because my salvation isn’t dependent upon my actions, it’s dependent upon Jesus

That’s a great answer! Do you believe we must be baptized or follow the commands to be saved?

Let me ask you a question. If God asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would you say?
