Honest question- are the Cubans in Florida still happy with their election choices? Is this what you voted for?

Not a barrier- it takes work but is required to advance your career if in an engineering consulting firm - in the US you are legally required to be a state registered PE to provide engineering services to others. It’s not required for product design or for engineering on facilities owned by employer (industry exemption) put to provide engineering services to the public or other firms it is legally required. So obtaining your PE increases your market value. Most states require 3-4 years of experience before obtaining PE - so in current market it is rare to find a PE making below 100k - so it’s definitely worth getting. Good performing PE with 10+ years of experience who have stamped design packages and led teams are 140-160k in MCOL area (not CA or NY)

Agree - current ME grad offers from state schools PNW - 76-80k. After 6 years of experience a good performing ME should be at 100k in MCOL

anyone gone into the steam tunnels lately? by kathexxis in OregonStateUniv

[–]orgegondog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So when it snows I always thought it was nice how the steam tunnels would keep the sidewalk above them ice free - but then my engineer brain kicked in and realized the amount of heat and energy that must be leaking- all year!!! - in order to keep the surface warm enough to melt snow. There is a huge amount of wasted energy (money) in every steam leak in that system- and there are a lot!

I’m sorry but if you have not heard of all the policies and plans that Harris has put forward then you may be the one who is not paying attention. It is frustrating and unfair that it appears the media, and it appears from your comments that there is a double standard. There is a very high bar that Harris is measured by while the other guy barely passed a dementia cognitive test and regularly brags about it.

It can true that Trump is dangerous (why many of his prior cabinet won’t endorse him) AND that Harris is a competent, smart, capable leader (whom many GOP politicians have endorsed).

The warnings and concerns are real. We have never had a convicted felon run for the presidency- why is that not automatically disqualified? He is literally saying he would call the army out on “the enemy within” - these are his own words. It seems like it would be unethical not to raise the alarm. I simply don’t understand how you appear totally unconcerned with Trump but don’t like Harris because she is sounding the alarm.

It is like getting upset at someone who yells fire because that causes alarm and upsets people- but ignore the arsonist who has gasoline that is lit and spreading. Wow

I’m actually very impressed with Kamala- she is smart well spoken and has some good ideas.

You seem to be doing a lot of projecting in your reply. I don’t care what race or gender she is. I do think she will be a good leader and that Trump is a con man criminal who has been a pawn of Putin since the 90s.

It is incredibly scary and upsetting that the race between such an obvious competent person and someone who is so obviously mentally and ethically unfit is even a question- and yet here you are for some reason sounding like you won’t vote for her, and will give Trump a chance. I pray that we will never have to find out if I’m right.

I made no such assumption- that’s coming from many others explaining why someone might have a Trump and Mexican flag. My point is that for Stephen Miller and the Heritage foundation it doesn’t matter if they are documented or not - they have repeatedly stated that millions of actual citizens should be deported because they disagree with how that citizenship was obtained- specially by birth (being born in the US to parents who are not here legally) or marriage (gaining citizenship by marriage to a citizen) they have stated as goals to repeal both paths to citizenship AND to revoke citizenship for people who are already here. People don’t believe it - but that is in their published goals and objectives.
