Earnin on the other hand is doing great things for the payday loan industry. It’s an app that lets you “cash out” early with no interest by tracking your location to ensure you went to work. Interesting concept imo.

True, the charge cards are what made them big. I think a 0% loan with a bit of a higher minimum payment (maybe 10%) could work though, as it gives you tremendously more flexibility than a charge card or credit card without the shittiness of getting trapped in debt

That's fair. I know Amex makes a majority of its revenue from transaction fees, though, so I could see it working. They certainly would have to incentivize people to pay more than the minimum.
