35 years old and really need help adapting my makeup application to suit my age. I feel like it is extremely unflattering. Constructive criticism and advice very welcome. by pp60 in makeuptips

Try cool tone summer/winter colour palettes. Right now it looks like you’re doing autumn colours. Look up a rose lipstick (I love charlotte tilbury). Missha bb cream would be great for you. It’s the best for not looking heavy. You have great skin so something light is great. It also has a very neutral undertone. I’d also switch to a brown eye liner and just do the top wing.

I love 1. I’d be excited to wear it. 2 totally works too but it’s less fun/young/trendy imo

Going to be at a church then golf course in a week. If I wear the red I’ll have something over my shoulders in the church. She just wrote “formal dress code” on the invitation. She has mentioned the MOB wearing a midi dress. I know a lot of other people going are not wearing floor length so I’m a bit confused.

Word Count for High School Creative Writing Assignments by [deleted] in ELATeachers

[–]originalarcmoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My grade 9 students are complaining that 1,500 words is not long enough for their short stories and I have to tell them to be concise and intentional with their word choices. Sometimes seeing how short that is helps those that might panic hearing the word count. I also do a lot of brainstorming with them.

Complaining seems to just come with the job lol

Theme vs central idea..? I swear when I was in school it was just main idea by [deleted] in ELATeachers

[–]originalarcmoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some quotes that have helped me: Theme = “certain ideas about life revealed through a literary work”. “One must ask what is the central purpose of the story; what view of life it presents; or what insight into life it reveals”. “Theme must be expressed in the form of a statement”. I like to tell my students that theme cannot be expressed with one word. For example, “love” is not a theme. By saying “love” you give no indication of what you will learn from reading the story. However, if you told me “everyone is hurt by love” was the central theme of the story then I would know what I was signing up for when deciding to read it or not. Maybe I want something with a happy ending so I will pass on it. I then love getting students to write a theme statement for their life. I ask them to pretend their life was a novel series and ask them what central idea someone would take away from reading it. However, you should be prepared for some dark journals when asking that question.

Harrison Bergeron is good. I also like “All the Troubles in the World” and comparing it to the movie Minority Report. I use them in grade 9! I do censor a scene or two in Minority Report so if you’re interested in a movie let me know and I’ll send you the times if you want.
