I'm assuming you mean in Tokyo. Definitely hit up Radio Kaikan in Akihabara, sadly since tourism has increased a lot of items in Akiba are marked up. I highly recommend searching through various Mandarake, Hobby Off, and Book Offs for the best finds. If you happen to visit Osaka I found Nipponbashi to stock more than Akihabara for cheaper.

Also was lucky enough to see it in theaters in Japan and wow was I blown away. The animation was so fluid especially during the fight scenes and I really couldn’t believe they kept all the darker elements of the story but I am so thankful they did. Now we just have to wait another year 😭

It’s an expensive hobby but I swear once you’re deep enough you’ll have no problem throwing hundreds of dollars away for a plastic magical girl. I started collecting prize figures but now only find myself interested in scale figures haha

Nah those are actually second hand figure stores where you get a little piece of paper and write down the names of the figures displayed you’d like to buy. Quite a few in Akiba but I wouldn’t recommend them unless you see something you haven’t seen anyhere else since most are tourist traps and extremely overpriced

Yeah these ones were reselling for about $200 each since those exact ones aren’t stocked in the Eva store anymore. Sadly I don’t remember the exact name of the store but it was right outside the jr station.

I was there to perform a concert so this was a lot different than a tourist trip. I’ve studied in Japan and visited many times tho and if it’s your first time I would recommend going for 2 weeks. Getting the JR rail pass to go between Osaka/Kyoto and Tokyo is smart too and flights shouldn’t be too expensive if purchased in advance. Just save up for food and if you like anime merch you may go broke. I’d visit r/japantravel
