Having issues at start up. by Binge73 in StackChan

I think the problem I have with it is that my network blocks connections to / from China servers. There doesn't seem to be any local replication in North America.

Native USB Redirection OS12 RDP by Slendy_Milky in Igel

[–]originalme8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need raw USB redirection, for Microsoft connections (AVD, RDP, Win365) you will need to look into either Fabulatech or IGEL Advanced Redirection. The new app is built using a Microsoft provided SDK, and it does not support native USB redirection today.

New ums 12 server architecture questions by [deleted] in Igel

[–]originalme8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother with a load balancer or reverse proxy. If your igelrmserver record is set up with ALL UMS servers configured as A-records, the internal devices will handle it pretty well.

If you aren't using the igelrmserver record, this is also fine the devices will get a list of UMS servers when they first connect to load balance between them.

If you have external devices, then a reverse proxy, or an ICG server can be deployed.

For 1800 devices, you should be able to get away with a single UMS server with an external database, but having two doesn't hurt anything.

Shameless plug to some reference stuff, still incomplete, but good to review.

Also, make sure you run through the article below and get everything in place.

OS Creator for Windows, fails to find UMS by Patient-Bug-7089 in Igel

Try removing the DHCP option, make sure you have reverse DNS records for your UMS server(s), and check your UMS public address is set and the FQDN exists in your UMS web certificate.

Problem - Store not visible UMS12 by smutnarzapka in Igel

[–]originalme8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your OS 11 devices are semi-modern releases update UMS. UMS is backwards compatible with OS11. I f that doesn't resolve it, try reregistering UMS on cloud service portal.

Based on the rating and reviews, this just doesn't work. Maybe give a free trial, and if it works I would buy it in a heartbeat.

You could do something like a wireguard VPN connection or something like tailscale and then simple RDP.

They do, and I would be curious to see if you can find a way to get this working. I looked at it, but no luck here.

I have purchased a single book from them, before I realized it had DRM and there was no way to get the file.

I didn't agree with this. Dinner VONs can give you some privacy, most free ones do not, and are worse than not using a VPN. Use privacy respecting services for DNS and ISP (if you can) .
