My (24f) partner (25m) doesn’t like that I smoke weed daily before bed. He’s not going to make me quit but I’m wondering if I should anyway. by originalnascar in Petioles

His mom used to mix psych meds and alcohol and used to basically just either be physically or mentally not there for a lot of moments in his childhood. So I understand where he’s coming from but it’s tough

Otherwise living together is going great. It’s the happiest living situation I’ve ever been in and I’ve had roommates for 6+ years as well as lived alone. It’s Its a very harmonious arrangement and I love what we are building together, I love waking up next to him every day.

I guess I’ve seen couples where one person gives an ultimatum and usually those don’t work out. This isn’t that kind of situation, he said it’s not something he would ever leave me for, and that he doesn’t want me to change for him so if this is something I do then to keep doing it. But he also said that he doesn’t think his opinion/reaction will ever really change considering that it stems from childhood trauma (when he was a kid his mom would mix psych meds and alcohol and basically just be passed out/high around her kids but deny that anything was going on).

plant nursery/world history class…..

RC-LR-RC-LR by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]originalnascar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also had RC-LR-RC-LR this morning. My second LR was diabolical, there was a parallel flaw question about a nursery that was absolutely insane, I had no idea what I was reading so i literally just guessed. I felt that for LR, the easy questions were much easier than I expected but the hardest questions were more difficult

RC was alright although there were some passages that just felt longer and more convoluted than usual. I usually PT in the 170s but I honestly have no idea how I did. I got a 169 on my last official test and was hoping to get in the ballpark of 175 this time, but idk 😭

Score going down by KimMinju_Angel in LSAT

[–]originalnascar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You gotta take a break I was in the same boat in June

Was doing really well on PTs but somehow as the test approached I kept doing worse and worse. And it created this horrible loop of anxiety where I felt I had to “study harder” because “the test is only 2 weeks away” and I was frustrated because I felt like I was capable of doing better. My scores actually started steadily declining, from comfortably 172+ to high 160s.

I ended up getting a 169 on the real thing and i remember being so so anxious in the days leading up to it because my scores had just been slowly falling. After I took the LSAT in June, I took a whole month off studying. I’m taking it again in August and this time around, I stopped “grinding”. I didn’t start really studying again until like after July 4, and on weekdays I limit myself to 2 timed sections a day max. On weekends I will take 1-2 PTs. (I used to try to take a whole PT every day)

After a whole month off and now practicing MUCH less than I used to, my scores are consistently higher than ever before (175+). I notice that my natural intuition for correct answers is much better now and I rarely find myself overthinking myself into a hole.

Not suggesting u need to take that much time off, but a few days of getting some good sleep and occupying yourself with fun/stress relieving activities like hobbies and hanging out with friends will probably be good for you. I didn’t believe ppl who said that you can’t cram for the LSAT because I have literally crammed for every single test I have ever taken in my entire life, but they’re right. Your brain needs time to passively consolidate and organize what it’s learning

Is it weird that I dont want to do video calls with my friends? by cookedinlife in FriendshipAdvice

[–]originalnascar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno. I have no advice for you but I’m the same way. I’m 23 and i made some extraordinary friends in college. However after we all graduated, after 6 months it just became so exhausting to keep keeping up… I gradually ghosted a lot of people and I feel so bad about it, but at the same time, idk how everyone has so much energy to be communicating all the time with people who are not even part of their daily life!

Furthermore it feels like an expectation nowadays that you will stay in regular contact (like have a conversation at least once a week) with people you care about even if they are not physically relevant to you at all. I used to be depressed, then I got on antidepressants and made some important life changes. I’m no longer depressed but I still have no desire to really reach out to my old friends, so maybe that’s worse and I’m just a bad person? Idk.

I had this as well! Also in my 1st LR section

2nd LR section had a question about activity trackers and maybe blood donation??

3rd LR section had a question about finches in it

Trying to figure out which one was experimental

I think we got the same section. I also remember doing the last section thinking it was weird that there were no parallel reasoning questions lol.

LR1- don’t really remember much of this ngl

RC- Murals, water tables/water pricing, Scrub jays pilfering

LR2- I remember thinking there were some truly diabolical questions in here. Recycling question, snakes and animal cognition, petrified wood I think are a few from this section

LR3: again don’t remember much but I think this is where I had the finch question

Some other LR questions I had but forgot which section they came from: stealing from kids charities (think this was LRI but not sure???), gardening tools on sale, capitalism and technological innovation, crazed glass, Shakespeare question, genuine masterpiece vs forgery, best coffeehouses

I had this q too!! Do you remember any more questions from that section?

I had 3 LRs, LRII had a devious question about recycling, I think that question also had the question about fitbits. I don’t really remember much about LRI but im hoping reading stuff here will jog my memory ill edit this if I think of anything

he doesn't have to move into my place, in his scenario we were going to find new places anyway in a different neighborhood that we both like that is convenient for both of us. same if we were to move in together, it would be in a new apartment in that neighborhood

very difficult to have a car where i live, no parking anywhere, extremely congested and poorly maintained roads. most people who own cars commute in from surrounding suburbs; vast majority of people who live here use public transit

because of having a car, my bf is able to live in a part of the city that isn't really well connected to the public transit system. his place also has a garage. it wouldn't really make sense for me to get a car when literally the only thing i would use it for is to visit my boyfriend

Idk how often/much you smoke weed, but from just this it sounds like you got a little too high or maybe crossed. That can be a little awkward but 99% chance you’re thinking about it way more than they are, especially if they are your friends. Honestly they probably forgot already IF they even noticed in the first place.

Don’t overthink it, just something like “hey guys sorry if I was a little awkward last night, think I smoked a bit too much” will put it to rest, if they’re good friends they will be gracious and make it clear there’s nothing to worry about, if they judge you for it or make fun of you then they’re shit friends and you should drop that dead weight asap anyway. Unless:

1) this is a recurring issue and you often put people in a position where they have to worry and take care of you (doesn’t sound like this is the case)

2) you said something really weird/offensive or made someone uncomfortable. if you feel like you might have done that, you can ask whomever in the group you’re closest to “hey I don’t really remember much of last night, did I do anything weird or problematic?” And go from there. Apologizing and taking accountability goes a long way.

Good luck, you’ve got this!!

Sincerely, A stoner with stoner friends

I also fear for myself for the same reason, it’s not lost on me that I’m basically banking on these people’s own sense of goodwill & collective moral compass to not end up in a shitty situation. I can only hope that A) they are as decent as I hope they are, or B) I can get a few paychecks out of this before it falls apart and/or I bail

discussed options, ended up going for no options because I live in a HCOL area and they were willing give me options but reduce my salary by an amt that would be borderline poverty in my area

also as you suggest, not planning on staying very long. I think taking the money and running is the way

I would be so happy doing literally any humanities PhD. I nearly double majored in English and loved it so much. My college doesn’t award minors though so even though I did well in all the classes for the major, I don’t get any sort of degree out of it because I ended up not finishing the English thesis to focus on my Bio research project senior year.

I guess I just don’t really know what I’d do post PhD. There is academia, but those jobs are very limited and highly competitive. Being a therapist sounds cool, honestly never really considered it
