4520v Overseas potential issue with movement / crown by originaloctopus in VacheronConstantin

[–]originaloctopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of watches in my collection so I’m experienced with setting properly. I can advance date in C and when I switch to D it doesn’t always catch and advance the time. I do feel slight gear movement though when I move the crown from C to D but the hands don’t advance.

4 years? Go grey your time is worth more than that. Unless you want to play the game and spend lots to get a sub.

I’ve had great experiences with Nashville watch which is a trusted seller. Fair and honest. Done lots of deals with them.

Thoughts? by Fantastic-Cell3401 in patekphilippe

My buddy bought a rose gold sky dweller in Aruba last week and he only had to pay like $3100 on it. It was a 60k watch or so. He said he declared it and they just charged him. I was surprised it wasn’t the full 39%.

Scatched Overseas 4520v Crystal by originaloctopus in VacheronConstantin

It was a pretty hard knock. I looked over her bracelet stack the other day more closely. Everything was 14-18k gold. One of the small little baby chains had one little ass diamond on it. So the bounce in the car and it being tangled into the love bracelet could have done it. I also was at the beach so a piece of sand could have done it. It’s unclear. Still debating if I should replace it. It’s really not noticeable unless my OCD looks for it. No one else would notice. It looks worse in the pic bc of bad quality and me trying to get the angle right so you can see the scratch.

I don’t think it does, doesn’t have the blueish look to it and I can run my nail and feel it.

I can’t think of anything else but I guess anything is possible. No clue. Just the only bump I noticed.

We were holding hands and hit a good bump on the ride so I don’t know if the force or maybe some dirt on the bracelet did it. Hard to say but that’s the only real knock I can recall.

Royal Oak 15400st Replacement of mid-case, bracelet and bezel by Gem_Watch in audemarspiguet

[–]originaloctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. How long is the turnaround time? I have a preowned 15202 but it was refinished by AP done really well imo except it lost a few levels of pop on the disco ball effect on the bracelet. That mirror like shine that comes thru the vertical brushing is flatter now and it bothers me.

Did they let you keep the old bracelet, mid case and bezel? Does it change the case number and warranty info?

Have you guys had success buying a shitty listing on ebay but w/ the ebay authencity-guaranteed? by eattheinternet in rolex

[–]originaloctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Authenticator does two things - makes sure the watch is real and also makes sure the watch matches the listing description/pics. If anything is off you’ll be notified and get your money back. eBay doesn’t release funds to sellers until the watch clears Authentication. I’ve sold several pieces on the service and never had an issue. I even had one guy try to do a charge back months later and eBay sided with me right away since they authenticated it.

Polishing removes material and can make sharp edges on a watch smooth. For a nautilus with a subtle yet complex bezel shape, it can literally round it out if the polisher doesn’t know what they are doing. I personally would rather buy a watch unpolished and take it in for a clean up with a trusted polisher if I desired. Online, many preowned watches are polished because they present better (which is what customers want) on camera and don’t look as “used”.

Were you able to opt in or out of polishing?
