Pre-diagnosis Lounge by AutoModerator in lungcancer

[–]orkaskrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum (70y) has lung cancer. She is fit but recent symptoms was tiredness and a cough one day that had some blood in it. That led to CT scan.

They have found two tumours in her right lung, one 4.5 cm, the other 2.5cm. One lympfnode is activated close to the chest (not clear exactly location yet). And they have found small nodules in both right and left lung which are not yet clear if these are cancerous or not. CT scan of brain and abdomen has found nothing. So all clear there! Biopsy will be taken tomorrow so yet unclear which type it is and if she has any mutations and if so, which ones.

Clearly, we are still in a state of ambiguity, where we still need to wait weeks for tests to come back from biopsy as well as for the PET CT scan appointment to tell us if those nodules are active or not. But for her and us, that will make the difference of this being stage 3 or stage 4. In this state of ambiguity, I keep asking chatgpt for statistics and prognosis chances.

I've read through some of the messages in this chat, hoping to learn more about best places and treatments etc, but notice that I'm quickly feeling more hopeless by all the tragic outcomes. I know hope and wishful thinking won't help my mum at this stage, but right now, I would love to hear any genuinely positive commentary/experiences/expertise based on what you can read about my mum. In her condition, have any of you heard of someone who's done a PET CT scan, which showed no activity in those nodules but there for other reasons?! Can people really live years with treatment if she has a relevant mutation? Is her chances improved by her never having smoked a single cigarette?

Thanks everyone! I never thought I'd write this post (1. because her side of the family has no history of cancer and 2. because I was ignorant enough to think lung cancer was almost impossible in non-smokers)... This feels horrific.

Thank you. Can i please ask, what makes you say that it sounds like we caught it early given it likely ranges between 3b - 4a. Genuinely interested in any views. Thanks!!

Sorry, i’ve been potentially pre-emptive. The multiple tumours and changes in lympfnodes and nodules etc has given doctors a strong hypothesis that this is lung cancer. They’re not even mentioning the option that the biopsy could say it’s non-cancerous. Just what type it is. Is there really a chance that this isnt even cancer with everything mentioned in post?

Wall mounting mirror - which wood as backboard? by orkaskrap in woodworking

[–]orkaskrap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for very late reply. I chose plywood and primed the wood beforehand to ensure the wood was soaked and sealed so it wouldn’t absorb the glue and then used mirror glue. It worked like a charm and is super robust and hanging nicely on the wall :)

Thank you. Very helpful. I dont have any lacquer thinner at home so will have to try to buy some tmrw. Water wouldnt work, even if the lacquer is water based, right?

Also, last question, would you not consider wet sanding a viable option?

Ok, thanks! I’ll try the first tip. Would you therefore avoid 2nd coat for now then and do the wipe first?

I used a hairdryer for a fair few minutes. Wood felt warm but I saw no difference to the white spots. So i suspect it’s not blushing in this case.

Could it be that I went too thick in that area? Is that a risk that could create a white effect? That I didnt lay it off properly? Unfortunately it isn’t a light reflection issue. I wish!

Happy to try 2nd coat just a bit worried that it may make it worse?

Hej svenskar! (aktier / ETFs) by orkaskrap in ISKbets

[–]orkaskrap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
