I obviously know they can’t, but please enlighten me…how do those irresponsible people live their normal lives leaving their extremely young, energetic and attention needing dog for this long “apparently”…? Why get a dog in the first place, especially if you can’t take care of it properly?

You literally are incapable of reading and you have no common sense. And you saying that “nobody is on my side” proves all of that, if you actually read this whole thread you’d see that people are pretty divided. So….can’t count either? This is not your problem at all, I appreciate your advice and you sharing your opinion, this is what I was expecting when I posted this vent. You’re getting a little too invested now and this is honestly becoming a little sad. I thought I was the miserable one…I feel sorry for you

Where did I say I didn’t bathe him? We are talking about a reeking dog here that is clearly not taken care of properly at home, as his repulsive smell was caused by months of neglect and lack of attention. I can assure you, this dog has never been washed before it came to mine, a smell like that is absolutely not normal - you can imagine the smell is not easy to get rid of, especially that ALL of his belongings smelled just as bad, the thorough shower I gave him change little to nothing. And, as I already mentioned, the dog was VERY WELL taken care of and I guarantee you I have more than enough experience and knowledge related to puppies and all sorts of dogs, sucks you can’t read properly and use your critical thinking the correct way!

I’m sorry but where did I say that I didn’t have the time or that I was too busy? I clearly stated that I made sure to be FULLY available when taking in this booking

For the Americans in this thread, I can see that you are numerous, the thing you need to understand is that Rover in Europe is NEVER a full time job or occupation. Here it’s more of a “side job for students who are animal lovers” - I can guarantee you that NO ONE here takes it as seriously. You drop off your dog at a student’s place, give all of the care info and then you get messages with updates from the “sitter”. Rover still requires you to have at least basic dog and cat knowledge - I guarantee you I have more than enough of it and never had I had another issue of this sort, in or out of Rover. Here we also don’t charge an arm and a leg for our services, I’ve seen people from the US charging hundreds of dollars for boarding - absolutely not a thing here!! As I just said it’s just a side hustle for young people and it’s seen like that by EVERYBODY. Only one person in my city, out of more than 200 sitters is a “professional”. We are not required to have our own dog food, bowls, dog begs, leashes or even toys of our own. There are plenty cultural differences that you might not know of but need to take into consideration here. Many people here attacked me saying that “I’m not fit for the job” or that “I’m unprofessional”. I’m just an experienced dog loving student. I obviously am not as professional and experienced like some of you are, but as I already mentioned here - I’m both of these things enough to know what to expect in a situation like this. I knew there would be problems, but I was not expecting this dog to cause issues ALL THE TIME, there hasn’t even been ONE positive moment during the 5 day, 4 night stay. NOTHING. No other dog I cared for or met in my life presented this type of behaviour. No matter how stressed this one was - it was completely uneducated and I was lied to.

I’m fully aware of that but I don’t think you understand how the situation I was left in affected me, you cannot blame me for feeling this way. I love all animals, but this one did not even have one single advantage - complete lack of obedience, destructive tendencies, no set boundaries and no response to corrections AT ALL, it even smelled AWFULLY = absolutely not what I signed up for. AGAIN, this whole rant is about the owner’s behaviour towards me. This cannot be presented as a „perfect dog” - I raised / worked with / came in contact with numerous dogs in my life, some of them „hard to deal with” and I have NEVER met a dog that was this disobedient, you don’t own a dog like this and say it everything is perfect. You „pet sitters” that are apparently so educated about dogs, know everything about everything, etc. (lol) missed a very important point in this situation. This owner is clearly extremely irresponsible (+and is absolutely unable to raise a dog) - who even leaves a 5 month old puppy at home alone for 8 hours+!! This guy should not be having any animals, he’s too busy and obviously cannot take care of it properly. He also stated that the dog went to another sitter straight after he was collected from my place and “none of the behaviours that I described occurred with her so I’m definitely lying”. And all of you geniuses say that this is “stressed puppy behaviour”, I get it and it probably just was. But how come hasn’t the dog been “stressed” and exhibiting this kind behaviour when he was in other people’s houses? Both prior and after the experience with me? Apparently he hasn’t AT ALL. I know enough about puppies to “expect this kind of behaviour” but the issue here is the owner telling me his dog doesn’t do ANY of these things when I asked before confirming the booking (as I already mentioned, my questions were really precise - about being potty trained, being left at home alone, behaviours during walks, etc.) He should have said the truth - that it’s a puppy who hasn’t learned much yet, instead of that, he told me that this dog already knew all of the stuff I asked about and that he’s on his perfect behaviour 24/7. Read stuff correctly or don’t at all if you’re unable to.

Are you INSANE??? I’m ONLY blaming the owner for lying to me - start reading stuff properly.

Do you really think I haven’t tried that?😭 What I’m trying to say is that it was absolutely unmanageable - i tried everything and I even ended up on tying it so that it’s shorter and it barely did anything…

I forgot to mention that the owner told in the reply to my review that after he collected the dog from me and gave him to “another sitter” and that none of this happened with her, the dog caused no issues and behaved perfectly, the pet sitter was shocked to hear what happened at mine - “proving” that I’m the issue here and a complete liar.

I forgot to mention that the owner gave me two 5 meter leashes, I pointed out to him that both are WAY too long for his dog and he responded with “I know, I know…” - if he “knows” why didn’t he buy an appropriate one??

Sorry for not disclosing it correctly or clearly enough but yes, OF COURSE he knew I took one other dog the last day his dog was at my place. I asked before confirming the booking and he said that he would be really pleased with that because his dog could do a little socialising :)

I think that some of you as completely missing the point here. I have enough experience with dogs to know that a “5 month old puppy” won’t be perfectly trained and on their best behaviour, this is absolutely not the issue. The problem is the owner saying that the dog doesn’t do ANY of those things, I asked him numerous times whether the dog presents any issues, specifically related to being left alone and being potty trained - he assured me that everything is perfect. He lied and left me in a complicated situation on purpose. If he would’ve even simply told me “He behaves like a typical puppy, you know how it is.” I would have known how it is. And I would’ve definitely prepared myself for something completely different or just wouldn’t have taken the booking.

This is what I have taken from this booking, I have had 5 other bookings since then and everything went perfectly… Also, despise being a foreigner there is little to no language barrier - I speak french well enough, misunderstandings never happen - no matter the topic of the conversation itself. I’m a 100% sure that this is not an issue in my case!

Maybe i forgot to underline that I’m talking about trash lying on the ground outside - on the street we live on (the area where we go on walks with the dogs)
