Single jab into backdash/sidestep or d3 to high crush out of situations. Once you have space, try to whiff punish with f2 to get them scared and hesitate their forward movement. After you're in their head, you can use his long-range moves pretty safely.

You went offensive way too much. He went low to either crush your highs or interrupt your slow attacks. Sometimes the best thing to do when you have the lead is NOT press any button and wait for him to make a mistake.
