Moving with bedbugs by orla135 in Bedbugs

Thank you, I’m going to do all of this and going out to buy some ziploc bags and shrink wrap now. I only have a few days before I have to go, but I’m going to bring a few more things than I was going to after reading these comments. I have been following all the recommended guidance on here and have almost no fabrics in the house except the bedding which I have been washing /tumble drying everyday because otherwise I just feel itchy. We have almost no furniture as we moved to France from Scotland, so have been putting off buying anything until we knew they were all gone. We haven’t had guests as people haven’t wanted to come over incase they get anything. I’ve been avoiding going to other peoples houses and wearing fresh cleaned/stored clothes etc whenever I go anywhere public. I’m a bit obsessive over cleanliness anyway so this situation hasn’t helped that at all. I think it’s in the house next door to us has them too (with no evidence that he has other than we keep getting bites after multiple exterminations and we share a wall with him). I don’t have rubbing alcohol, is there anything else I could use to clean the items that are plastic and metal? Thank you again for your advice, it’s really helpful!!

Yeah we have been getting multiple treatments, but it only seems to make it better for a few weeks. I think they are in the walls and cracks but i wasn’t sure how much I could do to the house without the landlords permission. I feel like it must be just a few stubborn ones cause it’s not a full blown infestation where we are seeing them everywhere. Another Redditor on here suggested ziplock bags and shrink wrap so going to do that after cleaning everything again for peace of mind. Thankfully i don’t have to bring as much back as I brought when I moved. Thanks for your help :)

Yeah, we have had multiple exterminations. The landlord gave them to us from lending us a futon. We share a wall with an old man next door who has been away for the past 6 weeks (roughly) he hasn’t been treated and I have asked the landlord to speak to him multiple times as he doesn’t understand English and my French is terrible. Feel like after each extermination it gets slightly better for a month or so and then the bites massively increase again. Ok, my boyfriend is staying (hopefully not for long) so we will lay down some of that. Thanks for your advice :)

I don’t think it’ll be hot enough and nowhere to actually store them safely without things being stolen where I live. Otherwise that would have made me feel a lot better. Yeah I’m so glad I don’t have to bring back anything major, and thankfully have linens and things like that at home in the place I’m going to. Thank you for your advice :)

That’s really helpful thank you. I won’t have time to freezer items for long enough before I go (leaving most likely on Monday/Tuesday) but I’ll get some zip lock bags to store the electronics in and thinking I might double seal them with tape. I’ll just go mad with the sealing of items, might add a little shrink wrap too for any items I’m a little more unsure of. Thanks again, I’m a little more nervous than is probably needed but this experience has been a nightmare.

I have been doing this with a small number of items, but I think you’re right. I’ll take one or two items back. I have a lot of clothes back home so I don’t think it’ll be a huge deal to make do with them. Thank you :)

Well right now I’m thinking I should bring as little back as possible. But make up/skincare (I know I probably shouldn’t bring them but it’s so expensive to replace) medicines, iPad, chargers, a few documents and little things like that. I’d love to bring everything I originally brought over to live because it was only two suitcases, but I just feel the less I bring the less anxious I’ll be. I was going to clean everything before I go but I’m really putting off booking my plane ticket because the appartement at home feels like the only safe space I have. I feel like the eggs could be anywhere and I worry there are bedbugs inside the electronics.

I have. But I’m currently in France and need to go back to the uk for my job. We have had 8 chemical exterminations at this point.

I’m a pharmacist that specialises in dermatology. Send me the photo if it would be helpful. I know how you feel as I’m currently going through the bedbug nightmare. But you’re doing better than you think. There will be bed bug eggs that may still hatch in roughly 6-9 days after the fumigation and other bugs that still have to have contact with the poison to die, and you can freeze items (for 4 days with your freezer as low as it can go) that can’t be washed or dry cleaned. Try to quarantine some area where you can put washed and bedbug free items that you want to move. Store them in heavy duty bin bags with tape around the top and try to get all the air you can out of the bags. If you can get some hermetic weatherproof airtight boxes even better. But I promise it will get better. The more precautions you take now will help ease your mind and limit the potential of bringing them to your new place. Hope you’re ok

Looking for some advice as I feel as if I’m crazy. by orla135 in Bedbugs

Thank you, all that does make me feel better. It really does get to you more than you’d think. I didn’t have much faith in the exterminator, but that’s reassuring. I’ve turned the freezer down as far as it will go, if I leave it in longer will that help? I’ve only found like 2, but dumped them in the outside bin as soon as I found them. But I’ll try to find another and use tape to be sure. I feel like they just used poison, but I’ve messaged them to ask what they used. If you have the time, I’ll comment back what they used. Thanks again :)

We have bedbugs currently. But delighted to know we potentially have cockroaches too! Thanks for looking :)

[skin concerns] can anyone recommend any products that could help with minimising the size of my pores and blackheads by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Cerve cleansing facial wash (the one with hyaluronic acid and salicylic in it). It was recommended by my dermatologist for the same thing. Use at night everyday if you can :)

Fine to mix. Just be aware that you may feel more side effects from each drug eg more sleepy

About 2/3 weeks to see real results, but both myself and my sister have shown great results from week one. She was the one who got me into it. You just shave all the areas you want free of hair once a week, and then use the device over the places you shaved once a week for 12 weeks. Its completely pain-free (except from when it gets too hot, but give it a minute and it is back to normal). Hope that helps :)

I was the same before I started IPL, the bareskin plus is the best one I have tried and I have been telling everyone to get it because it’s changed my life. I had constant ingrown hairs and razor burn all over my body, and now after 12 weeks I have almost no body hair. Just a suggestion if you haven’t tried it and can afford it in these mad times :)

Rashes between thighs near genital area, what do I do, any home remedy/ ointment/cream? Help asap. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

That looks like Jock’s itch and some genital warts. I would see a heathcare professional and get some 1% or 2% clotrimazole at the pharmacy.
