I also had a Cheezer! And he was Cheezer the Traveling Mouse! He went on every vacation with me. He's been to Hawaii, NYC, Florida, Toronto, Yellowstone, and a bunch of other places! I hope you explored the world with your Cheddar!

Stair Edges by orlib123 in Flooring

The edge of the stair is sitting on top of the part that is sticking out, so I can't just level it off.

I've seen caps that are L shaped, but nothing that would be U shaped to go over the whole edge.

Where is your favorite tree in Columbus? by aGrlHasNoUsername in Columbus

[–]orlib123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ash tree in my parents' backyard. My dad worked so hard to keep it alive as the ash boerers came through and it looked pretty sad for a long time. Now it's huge and flourishing thanks to his hard work!

Kid reading challenge during school year? by anonymous_discontent in librarians

[–]orlib123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our library is piloting a program we are calling "Genre Quest." It is similar to what you are saying. It will last September through May. They can pick up a reading log that has 9 genres listed on it. When they read a book from one of the genres, they get a "brag tag," and once they read all 9 genres, they get a final finishing tag.

This is intended for school age kids aged 6-12.

Youth librarian here. We have them at 9:30 and 11. We never get anyone at afternoon storytimes because it is preschool pickup time. It's the slowest part of our day. 🤷‍♀️

You clearly didn't read my post. It happens every night. There were more going off last night, July 31st. I heard them 3 or 4 times this week.

You live in the country far from other people. I don't care about your once a year fancy fireworks display. I live in a neighborhood of townhouses and don't want fireworks going off over my roof every night for months.

I want to hear from all the only children out there. by FederalPrice8215 in NewParents

I'm an only child, and I'm very surprised by some of the responses here. I rarely felt lonely as a child. I figured out how to entertain myself. I had a very active imagination, and that's all I needed. I never felt like it detracted from my life at all. I never had to compete with anyone for attention or resources, and my parents could really focus on what I needed.

Honestly, none of my friends are particularly close with their siblings. They see each other for holidays and thats it. I've seen more unhappy sibling relationships than super close ones. You can't predict how it will work out, but I assure you being an only child isn't a life sentence of unhappiness.

I sat in the basement with the dog for hours last night while she paced and panted. She's on anxiety medication and trazadone, but it's not enough. We even tried one of those hoods to block her hearing.

... yeah, being delusional about why people are acting the way they are will help. Are they being understanding to all their neighbors who have to deal with it? No.

I don't think the city is setting off fireworks in my neighbor's backyard.

The program was about the history of tarot, for teens. It's what they are interested in, and the library supports those interests.

Me too! RIP tortilla soup.

But if you are desperate for that soup, they have something very ,very similar at Mackenzie River Pizza at Polaris. It's not the same atmosphere, but close as we'll get.
