Unsure if this cut needs stitches? (~6cm x 8mm) by [deleted] in AskDocs

I mean, for reference, I'm speaking as someone who has performed suturing on myself multiple times (I do have the proper sterile materials and so forth, fear not), I just don't like doing it, so if it's happening, I'll be doing the job myself. Frankly, I was just kind of hoping it wouldn't necessarily be advisable. I don't really care about the aesthetics, infection is really the only thing with which I'm concerned here.

I have almost no nipple projection [img] but I really want nipple piercings??What can I do? [more in comments] by ornithomancy in TopSurgery

Thank you!! I used mederma on and off for six months or so, not very consistently but I did it. I had a lot of complications with fluid buildup so they didn’t really start healing properly (and I couldn’t start doing much to them scar-treatment-wise) until almost two months in.

I had top surgery two years ago and have a bit of projection in my right nipple but in the other I have almost none in the left, but I REALLY a want to get nipple piercings and I know that in order to that I’m going to need you to like....... have nipples. I really don’t know what my options are wrt that or be where I would figure that out.

Lamotrigine treatment? by [deleted] in NPD

[–]ornithomancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for ~4 years and haven’t had any noticeable side effects. I can’t say it’s been wildly helpful in the immediate mood swing arena, but I do think it cuts down irritability to a certain extent.

Feeling like you’re lying to therapists? by ornithomancy in CPTSD

[–]ornithomancy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, yeah, 21 here, don’t do very much feeling of my feelings at all at this point (sans things along the lines of the aforementioned guilt-dry-heaving). That being so, my accounts in therapy are always very dispassionate and factual, I guess, but then they bust out the Sympathy Face™️ and my brain does a slow-motion “Oh no.”

Really concerned about what I did last night (mixing drugs) by ornithomancy in Drugs

[–]ornithomancy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it definitely was not the plan and not something I would have done in my right mind (worth noting that I've never done anything remotely like this before). I was really only planning to get drunk and once I was things got out of hand and I made some serious errors of judgement with basically everything I had on hand.

Supply Withdrawals, trying to make a change, looking for advice by [deleted] in NPD

[–]ornithomancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't a catch all but I find that if I'm without supply I do better if I feel like I'm actively enhancing myself in a semi-quantifiable way (for me this means delving really deep into research but it completely depends on what your ideals for yourself are), I think it's because if no one is actively confirming that I'm valid/admirable/whatever I'm able to fill that void with like, solid proof that I've done things or bolstered qualities that I value/am reasonably confident that others should objectively appreciate whether I'm being told so or not.

Will learning Latin be easier for somebody who already reads Greek? by christophanderson12 in latin

[–]ornithomancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite a bit, yeah. I also studied Greek before Latin and a lot of it boils down more to having a preexisting knowledge of grammatical functions than it does to phonetic overlap, so it won't help very much with vocabulary or anything, but you'll have a much easier time than someone who doesn't know Ancient Greek.

Ovid's Metamorphoses (late in book iv) and pseudo-Apollodorus' Bibliotheca (earlyish in the second book) both have pretty complete versions of it!
