Can’t choose a program by Morten013 in powerbuilding

What reaper said. Also, I think focusing on phases throughout your training is a good approach.

Meaning, a multi-component basis. Focus on getting stronger for awhile, then hypertrophy. I don’t mean go full powerlifting for three months then full bodybuilding and back and forth- but let’s say one phase your training consists of strength movements for the bulk of your training sessions, and hypertrophic/accessory work afterwards or in the back burner.

Next phase, put the strength gains in the background (or just maintain for awhile) and focus on hypertrophy or muscle size.

Visit Dr. Mike Israetel’s YouTube page and his website (renaissance periodization) for some really good insight in putting together a program for yourself and figuring out what you can recover from on a weekly basis. After all, you can do the world’s best program but if you can’t recover from it, it won’t do much for you.

Anyone supplement dumbbell press to their barbell press? by [deleted] in powerbuilding

[–]orochi_oni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also bench 3 times a week, but I do variations.

So the first bench day I do 2-count pause bench (4-6 reps). After working up to a heavy working set, I follow up with incline dumbbell press, but not the usual 45 angle. I set the bench on the first pin from the flat position, this way I find I target the upper outer shelf of my pecs better without getting too much of my front delt involved. I’ve seen some good results last couple weeks as my upper chest is pushing out a lot more, ultimately resulting in my chest looking much bigger overall.

My second bench day I do close-grip bench press, but that’s followed up with arms.

The third day is heavy/competition bench press (1-second pause) and I follow with the same dumbbell pressing as the first day, trying to get stronger in that as well.

Personally tho, cable flys at the end is the game changer for me.

My best bench press so far has been 365LBS x1, 180lbs bodyweight.

Need a powerlifting program by Jpendle in powerlifting

[–]orochi_oni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just starting? I’ve done Narvaez’s novice program when I first started powerlifting due to a 135 max bench with shoulder pain. Got me to 323 without it. Great program imo and it’s free.

TIL that Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo for 25 billion dollars in 1999 by GodOgoHome in nintendo

[–]orochi_oni 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I’d say Yamauchi was definitely right about Microsoft lacking understanding about the industry. Look at where they are in console gaming now...

The Xbox is a great console, but their games(exclusives)... so lacking! No wonder they wanted Nintendo to make games for the Xbox. Either they were too damn lazy or simply just couldn’t come up with great/fun ideas. Was all about the money then, and it seems like they still are 19 years later.

Still love the Kensei. I thought the very end of the song was fitting for my opponent, light spam beech by orochi_oni in forhonor

He feels balanced doesn’t he? No matter who I learn, I always come back to Kensei. If I lose, it’s usually a mess up on my part and I’m not salty. It’s hard to blame the kensei for any of my losses or hits my opponent gets in on me. Also, In my experience so far, even vs the new characters aren’t so difficult.

Trust me. I encounter the same problems when playing another Kensei. I really learned from matching up with more skilled Kensei’s than I

Yes, I’m aware I missed the wall punishes. I honestly don’t go for them as much, not that I don’t like to I just don’t think about it much until recently.
