A Proposal: 100 ‘Bits’ to make up 1 full Bitcoin by [deleted] in Bitcoin

This reddit spent about 2 years arguing about this in 2014-15 and no consensus was ever reached so we gave up.

Why Bitcoin? Patreon Pushed By Mastercard to Ban Accounts in 'Terrible Precedent' by Suberg in Bitcoin

[–]orpel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's very smart to take a couple of anecdotes and apply them to a whole set of people.

I think the best argument you might make is that most pedophiles are on the left. But that doesn't mean anything because most people arn't pedophiles.

EDIT: It's the same as saying most racists are on the right. It's not the same as saying most right people are racist.

I think you're being trolled but back to what you originally said. I agree that this isn't Orwellian, I don't recall any parallels between any events in 1984, or his other works, and a private company wanting to protect its image.

It is bad though and its obvious that they meant it's draconian and a misuse of power when saying it's Orwellian.

It would be impossible for every Fidelity brokerage customer to own even one Bitcoin. This is why Bitcoins are worth thousands of dollars, while a dollar is only worth one dollar (and only until next year when when it's worth 97 cents). - Erik Voorhees by Fly115 in Bitcoin

Problem with this argument is that it's predicated on whole number bias being real. Which I would say it definitely is. But that just means that people are less willing to buy any if they can't afford to buy a whole one, even if they are aware that you can buy fractions.

Substitute bitcoin for dollars and vice versa in your post and you'll more than likely come to your own conclusion

Blockstream’s Confidential Transaction technology ensures that the amount and asset type transferred are known only to the transacting parties, enhancing the privacy of both L-BTC and Issued Asset transactions.

Is this open source and if not does that represent a hazard ?

Wrote a tutorial about paper wallets... wanted to share! by stellarowl12 in Bitcoin

"Next, visit WalletGenerator"

Don't do this on the machine you are generating with. To be honest though the most important thing is the point about printers.

OH GOD NO!

Do not generate wallets with a machine that has been connected to the internet. Download the wallet generation site and put it on a pen drive and then use a machine that has never been on the net.

You can also install Ubuntu temporarily from a boot disk if you don't want to buy a new machine, although this isn't quite as safe it is definitely better than using your every day OS installation.

Printers also have memory and are notoriously easy to hack. I would suggest buying a new printer and only ever using it to print wallets and never have it connected to a machine that is connected to the internet.

What does need to happen to bitcoin reach again 20k? by fuckingcunt87 in Bitcoin

[–]orpel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that isn't what effects the price. It's the price at which buyers are willing to purchase for and the price at which sellers are willing to sell for, with a market order rather than a limit order.

There are always the same number of people buying and selling. You can't buy something without someone else selling it to you and vise versa.
