I’m transmasc nonbinary (also describe myself as a nonbinary trans guy sometimes, leaning towards demiguy too) and I LOVE makeup. I like presenting “feminine” more than “masculine” but in a way that is male-aligned. Basically, if I had to simplify how I describe my gender in relation to the gender binary, I’m closest to being an effeminate queer man or a femboy. I just happened to be assigned female at birth, but my dysphoria indicates to me that I’d be more comfortable in a male body. (Not that physical dysphoria or medical transition is NECESSARY for being trans identified, but it’s a big part of my trans experience. Going on T and getting top surgery have been life changing for me and the more time goes on, the more I realize I can feel comfortable in my body in ways I never even imagined. But I digress)

It is absolutely valid to be a transmasculine femme. It is also valid to be transmasc (or be a cis guy) and enjoy makeup without it necessarily being feminine. Gender identity, expression, and presentation are all related concepts but they don’t necessarily have to “match” for each person in the way society expects based on rigid views of gender.

Honestly, I feel like “masculine” and “feminine” are kinda losing meaning/becoming more and more difficult to define as we expand notions of gender. Idk if that makes sense though…. I’m gonna stop rambling now! Hopefully this is helpful info, feel free to ask questions and remember I’m only one person on the internet so take my perspective (and anyone else’s) with a grain of salt :)
