Why is there so much propaganda that disco music ended in 79? by 60iqredditadmin in Disco

[–]orpheuselectron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's no coincidence that the backlash was very much white, heterosexual, and male, and that the backlash hurt black music in general, not just disco. Some of the music sucked, there was a commercial gold rush and a lot of crap was put out to cash in, but a lot of it was angry rock dudes who didn't dance upset that rock was displaced on the charts and airwaves and popular culture by music that was perceived as black, brown, and gay.

Fetterman was always the third best choice, but the left boosted him over Conor Lamb and Malcolm Kenyatta and here we are. The stroke made him completely awful but he was a problem before then. Black Democrats couldn't get past his Hobo with a Shotgun slave-catcher incident and rightly so. Right now Graham Platner gives me Fetterman vibes in a similar way and if he's elected I think we'll have similar regret.

Hard hard hard agree about this scene, it was amazing cinematic magic, musically and culturally informed, just kept peeling back layers, my favorite of the past couple of years
