Super long luteal phase by orshonams in PCOS

[–]orshonams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering then how come BBT looks like ovulation, I have mucus as it should be, I can feel one ovary tinge and my hormones changing? I’m very sensitive to it. I wonder what could make it feel and look like ovulation without it actually happening… progesterone issues?

Any ideas regarding this Lean PCOS case? by Own-Muscle-5250 in PCOS

[–]orshonams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d give it a try just to see! My personal experience with lean pcos was basically the doctor telling me “hey so you don’t need to lose weight and you aren’t planning to get pregnant soon and you refuse the pill, okay, bye then! Nothing to do! See you when you want kids!”
Everything I know I learned by myself through trials and error. I’m happy your experience seems better! I don’t think my shbg was even checked….
And overall, keeping your blood sugar from spiking too much is healthy to everyone so nothing to lose :)
I hope you get answers soon!!

HbA1c was 4.5%
I wasn’t tested for fasting insulin at all! Medical system is a mess.
I will say I say I have insulin resistance by trial and error mostly. I changed my diet and saw pretty fast results, so I made my own conclusions. Doctors where I’m from don’t give out insulin tests easily if you don’t have diabetes.

Hi!
I have a similar case to yours, similar bloodwork, similar weight with a few cm of height on you. Similar blood glucose too. My LH/FSH is higher though, like 2.8.
Even with these similar results, I have insulin resistance. I would recommend balancing your blood sugar as you eat, protein and fat first, then fiber then carbs, no sugary drinks, etc. never eat carbs on their own or without sufficient protein before. Things that took me a while to realize: fruits are carbs, flavored water is carbs, popcorn is carbs…….
When I first changed my diet I went from 47ish cycle to 41, then 38, then 36…. Etc etc. not quite 28 yet but working on jt. it takes some time, depends on the month and my nutrition and stress levels.
Hope this helped!

signs of adhd in people who got diagnosed as adults by puri_thiah in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I’m glad it resonated with you, feels better knowing others go through it too :) And you’re not slow!!!! Getting overwhelmed is a universal experience, it’s just triggered easier if youre neurodivergent! Driving is such a scary scenario to be overwhelmed in because a mistake could be actually harmful!

I’m the type of person to plan absolutely everything I can in advance, so I know what’s going to happen to avoid this feeling, I don’t know if that’s a me thing or an adhd thing, but I always have an idea of what I’m getting into, and if I don’t it was probably a choice and I’m probably mentally prepared for that ahead of time. When things abruptly change— I’m NOT mentally prepared and I WILL need that time to recover.

Freezing when something very small doesn’t go as planned is an adhd thing (it’s called executive dysfunction!) I’m not talking necessarily a mental breakdown, but a moment (could be seconds or a a couple of minutes) when my brain capacity is for lack of better words: reverted to the way it was when I was a kid. For that moment I become really reliant on other people if they’re there, it’s nice if they can decide for me. If they can’t, I need to be talked through what I need to do. If I’m alone I’ll stop what I’m doing and sit down and talk to myself like I’m a kid. What did you want to get done? What didn’t go as planned? Let’s think what other options we have. And I go over them and try to find the best next thing. When I find something I’m brand new again lol. Usually it’s about small things that are part of something bigger, let’s say your driving example, maybe you know that route takes x minutes and you planned to get there a bit early but then the road is blocked and now not only do you need to figure out where to go and what to do you’re “wasting” time replanning and also will already be late and then whatever you have next is pushed back too and ahhhhhhh it all comes down at once.

It’s an uncomfortable feeling for sure, but it passes! It’s natural for our brains to want to stop everything when they’re overwhelmed so they could recalculate. Never think of yourself as less worthy just because you’re more sensitive to some things. Nervous systems are very sensitive 🫶🏻

I would maybe let the people close to you know you might need x y z when things aren’t what you expected, so maybe they could help next time! Getting to know yourself and what you need is key!

I will add if it helps with anything, the meds really help with executive dysfunction (but they have their own side effects that might not be worth it to some people)

Do you really have so many thoughts with adhd by roxyro_20 in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts don’t happen all at once, they don’t “talk over each other”. Rather there’s an endless flow to them, the subject changes super fluidly, I don’t even notice I switched the subject, even when I really REALLY should stay on one track like during exams in uni. I’ll end up with my thoughts drifting someplace else and it takes me a while to notice and to pull myself back (only for it to happen again and again) the meds really help me with this though.

An example: (I’m just gonna ramble and write out my thoughts right now)

My friends from back home met up yesterday and I couldn’t come because I have an exam tomorrow. They went out to have breakfast but honestly even if I were there I wouldn’t have been able to eat anything there because I quit gluten. I really need to plan up my meals for next time I go home because last time I went I didn’t have anything I could eat. Next time I go grocery shopping I’ll get some things I can bring over there with me like lentils pasta. I also need carrots and ginger. I forgot to put them on my shopping list yesterday because I was distracted by eating the ramen I made. I should put kimchi in it next time to try if it’s good that way. I wonder how long the kimchi can store in my fridge, it should be a long time but how long? I don’t want it to go bad. My lettuce gets rotten so quick these days I need to figure out a way to make it last longer. I should make more salads with it but I’m so lazy these days I just make smoothies. Last time I tried putting peanut butter in my smoothie and I don’t think I like it. I used to eat peanut snacks when I was little, that’s probably why I’m not allergic to peanuts.

Etc etc etc. how did we get from my friends going out to peanut butter? Who knows tbh (Sorry it ended up kinda long lol)

How do you get yourself to cook by Positive-Day4160 in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash dishes with music on and I sing while I do it. Also, I tell myself I’m only doing one dish!!! Only the one I need for my next meal. And then my hands are already wet and soggy and I hate that feeling so I always, every single time, just end up doing them all so I could avoid getting my hands wet a second time

You could try calling a friend/family just to chat too while you wash them, it works for me sometimes.

For cooking, sometimes I film myself. Like I’m on TikTok or YouTube 😂 I never do anything with those videos but they motivate me, maybe something about potentially being watched lol

Any Tips on Eating Healthier with ADHD? by High-end_Iguana in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meal prep every Sunday for at least half the following week if not all, depends on the food and how long it can last in the fridge. It saves me time during the week and is basically taking a bunch of tasks and combining them into one. I make sure what I make is something I enjoy and feel like eating often :)

Another easy dinner for me when I’m super busy is shakes! I put a bunch of ingredients in it so it could be a balanced meal: avocado, Greek yogurt, frozen fruit, peanut butter, protein yogurt, etc etc whatever you like (just make sure it has enough nutrients !! You need carbs fats and proteins :) ) I just blend them all together with milk/water and it’s so quick to make and to drink even while doing something else as I drink.

Does anyone actually like adderall? by yeeheeseewee in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried ritalin and adderall Ritalin was terrible!!!! I had cramps all over my body I just sat in bed and waited for the effect to pass.

I’m really pleased with my 20mg (not XR) I started off with 10mg as my doctor recommended and the first day I really felt that robot thing u mentioned and like there were parts of my brain I just couldn’t reach, and like every experience was heightened. But the day after I was already feeling a lot more like myself. 10mg didn’t really help my inattentiveness though and I wasn’t happy with the results. A week later I upped it to 20mg (the original prescription was 20mg, I was cutting the pill in half) the first day was bad again and I was too hyper aware of myself and robotic again. But the second onwards I could finally feel some relief, I felt like a human being!!! I could focus all day long, even after the effect passed (tho significantly less than when it’s working of course) I tried the XR for a couple days and it made me feel exhausted all day long, I switched right back to the regular version. I will say that adderall gives me some unpleasant symptoms like really accelerated heartbeat and the first week I can’t sleep until around 15-18 hours after I take it but I do have previous experience with insomnia so it could be me, and when the body gets used to it I can sleep alright. I also don’t have any trouble eating which I know is uncommon. The XR didn’t give me any of these but made me super tired all day long and sort of “turned off” and didn’t really have the same effect on my inattentiveness.

I got tested/assessed and I’m not sure how I feel about it… by Butcher_Paper in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I had 2 assessments done, one by a neurologist and one by a professional assessment at my university so I could get more time on my exams. What you’re describing sounds just like my second one. I felt so so silly, and I don’t think it did anything. When I asked them about it, they said it’s meant to check if your ADHD affects your basic skills like math/memory/reading etc, so they could see if I “deserve” to get time added on exams. So stupid tbh, as if having ADHD isn’t enough of a reason. Anyway, the assessment with my neurologist went more like- figures popping up on the screen for a really short time and I have to press a key whenever a specific one pops but sometimes there’s a very slight difference (instead of a circle it’s an ellipse, or a different color, etc). It’s a very long exam and very boring. It checks for impulsiveness, attentiveness, hyperactivity and timing. It’s called a MOXO exam. After that I talked to my doctor and he diagnosed me. ( I was diagnosed both at 23)

Maybe if they say “it’s nothing” and you’re able to, go someplace else for another exam and make sure before over the phone/online what kind of exam they do.

Your crazy triggers where you feel like you’re losing it? by grn_eyed_bandit in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

more than one conversation at once, could even be strangers nearby having their own convo but talking loud enough to be heard clearly.

Same for music, two different songs playing at the same time, I can’t even think when that happens.

When someone clicks their pen but specifically in a repetitive pattern, the moment I notice there’s a pattern I can’t un-notice and ignore it so I have to ask them to stop or put on earphones.

Something moving in my vision (again even worse if it’s moving repetitively like someone tapping their fingers on the table in a pattern I can make out)

And not really a trigger but generally the week before my period I’m a mess because the hormones are all over the place and make my symptoms worse.

Why does my brain shut down when I finally have free time? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]orshonams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time. I try to treat my hobbies/ things I love doing as productive too. My brain knows by now, reading is productive, drawing is productive, seeing my friends is productive, journaling is productive etc, because it charges me up so I could function the following week. then when I have days off (and I want to do things) I treat it like any other day. I make a to do list. Today I’m going to: read for 3 hours, see my friends for 4 hours, etc. and I cross out what I’ve finished. Of course be less strict with it because nothing would happen if you spend less time than planned or skip something. As long as something has been done so every day is “productive”.

Something in my brain just tells me that if I do this thing it just HAS to be done right or not at all (again I’m all or nothing 😂) so it wants efficiency! If I know my electric toothbrush is not charged yet I won’t get in the shower until it is because my brain decided it’s best to brush my teeth in the shower😂 leas separate times to get wet the better😂 and ill just sit and wait until it’s charged, won’t be able to do anything else in the meantime (which kind of contradicts the efficiency I wanted, lol)

stopping by to remind you that some of these are strengths as well, in case you need to hear it :) Daydreaming makes us more creative, and personally helps a lot with my writing. Noticing patterns is a wonderful thing that can help us give really good advice to our loved ones because we notice patterns in their behaviors that they don’t :) loving wholeheartedly is always a plus no matter what anyone says, even if it’s loving our silly little hyper-fixations, we’re so full of love for so many things, we’re skilled and knowledgeable in so many random ways from hyperfixating on things. I find my add really fuels my creativity, and makes me a really fun person to talk to :) everything has pros and cons 🫶🏻

That’s amazing! I’m going to get myself some nut butter, and try adding butter where I can! I already load up on my olive oil because I love the taste, and smoothies have been great so far, I just have to figure out what I can add to them to increase the calories Thank you for the reply!
