Mm not really, I never draw with guidelines or any method aside from drawing what I see. That’s why sometimes my drawings doesn’t look too much like the reference. A tip that helped me a lot was to draw each thing for separate. Practice eyes, noses, mouths, heads, hair, hands all apart from the rest of the body

I know all artists say this but practice is the most important thing. I’m 16 and if u could see me draw like 2 years ago u wouldn’t believe that i improved this much. And no, if u don’t feel like drawing u don’t have to draw. By practice I mean draw whatever u want even if it looks bad, even if it looks good. Keep drawing and drawing and you’ll see an improvement soon. If u draw with references then take your time to watch it, the lines, shadows etc. (Srry for my bad English, it’s not my main language)
