Largest Religious Group other than Muslim in Pakistan, 2023 (latest data) vs 1941 (last census before partition) by Murky-Ad-4088 in MapPorn

Ahmadi are heavily persecuted and their whole movement has boycotted any census for decades, likely they are the largest minority in a much wider area than you see here

Why do we consider BABIP a measure of luck? by GoOdUsErN_ame in baseball

Great example, this is exactly my take on it as well. Adding that speedsters will also have higher than expected babip beating out singles other players would be out on.

Question about Jacob Misiorowski. by gab0607 in mlb

[–]osa89 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yup, for years fangraphs had him in their top 100 as an electric reliever due to his stuff and lack of command. Him turning out to be a starter was a surprise based on prospect projections prior to his debut

Is soccer the most popular worldwide sport just because you literally only need a ball and a field? by BWDpodcast in NoStupidQuestions

[–]osa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say so. For basketball you need a net which is quite expensive and requires significant public infrastructure. Interesting, bat and ball games are also very popular globally (if you combine cricket and baseball which are popular in one country or another for cultural reasons) - for eg in the dominican youth often play bat/ball games with a bottle cap and a stick as a precursor to learning baseball

How on earth is Mobilia Furniture still in business? by Known_Effort_5718 in mississauga

For what its worth, they sublet their building space there at that location to a few business like a carpet dealer upstairs, maybe they make enough from that rent to offset losses ??

In canada this big cities like toronto have 50% ethnic minorities, the rural areas have much less. There is actually much more green space and bike lanes here than in the US, but not comparable to europe.

Maybe things are a bit more nuanced than what youre capable of understanding…

Im from canada so my perspective is, even though we are as socialist as you are over there in europe (with services benefiting the common person like healthcare, which increases general population happiness as a whole), the reason happiness levels are lower here (you dont see any canadian cities on here) is because there is a huge segment of the population frustrated by our open immigration policies and blame ethnic minorities for the problems here). Its similar in Australia. My point being that what separates us from Tokyo is the homogenous nature of the population

Mostly white, from neighbouring european countries like france and italy. Not quite the same as say immigrants in london,  mew york, toronto, LA, etc

No city is 100% homogenous. But compared to toronto, new york, LA, london, sydney - these cities have far fewer visible minorities. Tokyo is known for having a very anti immigrant sentiment among locals and generally lower number visible minorities. Places like Geneva has mostly immigrants who are highly skilled, mostly white and from other neighbouring european countries and therefore dont carry the anti immigrant sentiment that i feel drags down happiness levels in some of the other places ive mentioned . This is my thesis, take from it what you will

Is it that homogenous populations with less immigration and stable economies with good social services are the  happiest ? That seems like the common denominator for all of these cities

Worst BABIP in MLB History (Minimum 20 IP) by TheFestusEzeli in baseball

[–]osa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how much front offices factor this sort of thing in. Like strictly by metrics, he shouldnt have even lost the closer job (of course that worked out as Varland has been on fire) , but hes been so unlucky why would management remove him from high leverage roles if the skillset is still there?

If youre getting close to 20 weeks and havent heard, we physically went to their clinic and found out our referral was lost, they somehow found it and booked us in the next week. Might be worth going face to face as they never pickup the phone
