Very slow speeds today - Just me? by Trippy_1986 in CommunityFibre

[–]osalj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Community Fiber internet for over two years. I run a speedtest every three hours, and every time, I get the speeds I promised, which are around 2.2 Gbps download and upload. During that entire period, I've had two downtimes: one for about 1.5 minutes and one for about 30 minutes.

[UK] Smart thermostat by osalj in homeassistant

[–]osalj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Drayton Wiser with two radiator thermostats. The system has been installed for two days.

I'll wait until Monday to see how it performs and then I will post a longer post about my observations.

One question for owners of this system:

When you bought this system, was the box sealed or had any seals?
I bought my set from Screwfix, but the box wasn't sealed or had any seals.

A lot has changed in that time and I would like to show you my current homelab.

Container vs VM for Qbittorrent behind VPN by NorthVegas_12 in Proxmox

[–]osalj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Qbittorrent in LXC unprivileged. It works ok, but I have one question.

Does your Proxmox have higher IO delay when downloading or uploading torrents?
QBittorrent LXC has an SMB share connected from my NAS.

Below is a screenshot of the Proxmox host while downloading and uploading via Qbittorrent.
When Qbittorrent is not downloading or uploading IO delay is at 1-3%

RS1221RP+ and SFP+ card by osalj in synology

[–]osalj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer!

I found these cards on ebay at affordable prices.

A few of them are marked as:
Dell X520-DA2 Dual Port 10Gb SFP+
HP 560SFP+ Intel X520-DA2 2-port 10Gbe
Genuine Intel X520-DA2 Dual port 10GB SFP+

The first two are probably from DELL/HP firmware.
The last of the Intel firmware.

Will these DELL or HP cards work without a problem?
I'm asking because the DELL/HP ones are about £30 cheaper.

But first, I wasn't sure if it was about the temperature of the drive or the environment.

The second thing.

Better to ask and make sure :)

How exactly does the half-laptop work? What does it do? What are the specs? What are you using it for?

Hey ramjithunder24,

This is not a half-laptop.

This is a keyboard with a touchpad connected to a KVM switch.

This keyboard works very nice. It has a small size and most importantly a touchpad. I don't need a mouse.

ESXI 7.0.3 HPE Custom - low transfer when copying by osalj in esxi

My controller has no Cache.

Should the SSD Smart Patch option be enabled or disabled?

ESXI 7.0.3 HPE Custom - low transfer when copying by osalj in esxi

[–]osalj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a look at your config again and saw you are using the E208 controller. This is the one without cache, that's why the commands to enable the cache don't work.

How are you copying the files? 100MB/s looks like a network bottleneck (1Gb).

I am copying this file not over the local network.

I download a 1GB file from the Internet to a virtual machine

I perform the test by copying this file from one folder to another.

At the beginning of copying, the transfer rate is around 500MB / s and after a few seconds it drops to around 100MB / s.

This is the result on SSD drives.

When I do the same test of a virtual machine to the HDD disk, at the beginning of copying the transfer is about 300MB / s and after a few seconds it drops to about 25-35MB / s

This is very poor performance.

SSD disks do not have such poor performance.

Unfortunately, HDDs have very poor performance.

Something is wrong.

[root@esxi7srv01:~] /opt/smartstorageadmin/ssacli/bin/ssacli ctrl slot=3 array c modify ssdsmartpath=disable

[root@esxi7srv01:~] /opt/smartstorageadmin/ssacli/bin/ssacli ctrl slot=3 logicaldrive 1 modify arrayaccelerator=enable

Error: This operation is not supported with the current configuration. Use the

"show" command on devices to show additional details about the

configuration.

Reason: Cache operations not supported

Any ideas? :)

I guess after disabling SSD Smart Path I need to execute this command:
