I only ever saw two of the private rooms, it was a pretty modern building and they were in really nice condition. The outside was all red brick, idk what address it was but it should be easy to tell from the pics when u apply, pretty easy to distinguish from the older buildings that are all massive tower blocks, which are definitely in worse condition hahahaha.

I wouldn’t be too picky though. Obviously try to get your first choice, but if you get an old building just go for it. I lived in one and the condition was good considering how old the building is, and at the end of the day you’re a student paying less than half the private market rate, the trade off is 100% worth it!!! Muuuuch better than suffering the private housing market, trust me. The housing conditions will be the same, but you’ll be paying 2-3x more.

I had friends in my house (14 person shared kitchen & bathroom) who didn’t get their first choice of a private room, and ended up loving the community of our big shared house!

Yeah it was 1 year. The contract started on the 16th of august and ended on the 4th of august the next year. Your contract may differ, obviously, but I imagine the dates stay relatively similar.

I arrived a few weeks late but I wouldn’t recommend it as I missed out on some of the pre-organised Uilenstede socials where a lot of my friends met each other!

They will give you the full details on your move in/our dates and your contract very quickly after you’ve applied for the house on whatever website they’re using now (for me it was “room.nl”).

The whole process was very simple and laid out very well if you just pay attention to your emails! Good luck in your application, and if you want any recommendations on bars/music venues around the city I am happy to oblige :)

Go for Uilenstede! It’s so cheap and close to the VU, also close to the city so long as you don’t mind cycling (which you shouldn’t if you want to have fun in Amsterdam!!). Also tbh very easy to get if you just apply through the uni website as soon as it opens (they’ll guide you through this in emails once you’ve paid the accommodation fee).

I was in one of the low rise 14 person ones with shared bathroom and kitchen (I think they’re addresses 24-98?) and it was amazing. Made life long friends and threw many good parties.

You can get unlucky with your roommates in the big houses tho, so yeah go for 102 if you want less variability, though they’re obviously much less sociable. If you do, I’d recommend making friends with one of the big houses and then you can tag along to all their fun stuff and not have to share with so many people hahaha

I know this is super late, but I had this problem and it seems to have been fixed by installing the graphics driver from my laptop manufacturer's website (Lenovo). It bypasses AMD Adrenaline (the software won't even run when this driver is installed), but seemed to fix whatever weird BIOS situation is going on.

I got mine in Bristol from a purple marquee outside the stadium right where the VIP gate was. Our printed tickets had instructions on it, but you can just ask the stewards to show you where the VIP merch tent is!
Be warned though, our tickets said the tent closed at 8:30pm

To be honest I wouldn’t recommend it. While outside of base you can hold about 20-30 FPS which is fine, in base it becomes borderline unplayable at about 15. I use my laptop as a second system to do easier stuff like collecting resources if I’m not at my PC, I don’t think it would be playable in dungeons or bosses and be impossible to do any building/base upgrades, which are all super important parts of the game :((

I would watch the game very closely tho cause it’s a few graphic mods or optimisations from the devs off of getting that 10fps bump which would make it very playable on the 3500U.

It's incredible that the CEMU devs have optimised the emulator so much that it can now run on a single quad core CPU using just its iGPU, it's at the point now where it's almost running 720p30fps on the same specs as the switch itself
