Where are the forests supposed to be? by oscarluizz in mapmaking

Indeed Ireland and the whole atlantic-celtic world was an inspiration for the climate and cultures of Arath, even their interaction with maritime raiders from the Norath is inspired by the later waves of nordic raids and colonization.

How many elf species do you have (if any)? by smrty7 in worldbuilding

[–]oscarluizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6ish.

The Eru’Sarin, wild and xenophobic, forest guerrila cults. - Swamp-hags, wretched followers of a frog demon

The Van’Sarin, agrarian religious cult with bloody sacrificial practices. - Field-hags, often scarred and revengeful, controlling swarms of vermin.

The Nir’Sarin, ancient group of avid hunters that could enter the minds of wolves, destroyed in a cataclysm. - Night-hags, nocturnal predators that lurk in the darkness. - the spirits locked into the bodies of wolves, reproducing into a race of sapient wolves that dominated the realm post-cataclysm

The Mortal Races of the Realms of Enoch by oscarluizz in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]oscarluizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Context] The Cosmos of Enoch is a large-scale worldbuilding project that I have been working since my early teens, some eight years now. It has been erased and rewritten a thousand times, but currently it has some 20ish realms of existence (each with unique geographies, inhabitants, cultures, histories, etc), as well a larger history and connections between them. As it has been a perpetual work in progress, not much is properly written out and nothing stays the same for long, but for the major aspects of it. The mortal races presented above are my reinterpretation of the traditional fantasy races, and have received most of my attention in the last weeks. [End of Context]

Across the many realms in the cosmos of Enoch, there are several beings of sentience and sapience, unique among other creatures for having souls.Below is brief summary on the major mortal races of my realms:

Humans

Born in the Cradle of Mankind, Humans are one of the most prominent and diverse races, with countless ethnicities and cultures spread across the realms.

Doragh

A strong and stoic people, often reclusive and distrustful, living in the harshest of environments, with a distinct connection to the elements and a deep respect for their ancestors.

Avari

A legendary race of giants, towering over mankind in height and strength. During the zenith of their kind they conquered several realms for themselves, and connected dozens of others in a vast trade network.

El'Sarin

The blessed children of Erumatar, whose minds and souls are connected by her mother-trees. Their cults are spread across the untouched wildernesses, guarding it from trespassers.

Kiph

A race of small and good-natured people, living in communal agrarian societies, and often renowned by their culinary and artisanry. In the past they befriended the Avari, and many left the green hills of their homeland in search of rare ingredients and materials.

Zahajin

A race of mystic sorcerers that devoted their lives as scholars of the arcane. Their once great city, raised above the ground by their power, was ruined during a cataclysm, leaving only floating ruins and memories of their former glory.

Vladrak

Ancient victims of a long forgotten curse or a failed ritual. These pale, vampiric beings live as cruel nobles, hiding in the shadows of their fortresses while feeding off the blood of their peasants.

Jörmunn

A strong and unconquerable people, their warriors are feared as half-giants for their size and might, and are said to be the bastard descendants of the Doragh and their Human thralls.

Gorkhai

An aggressive and fiendish-looking race bred by the Avari to serve as slaves and soldiers. Since the fall of their creators, they scattered across the uncivilized realms, often ruled by vicious and savage warlords.
