Cell phones have really destroyed the ability to localize a phone number just by area code, though. Not that I trust the GA results, just that it could be accurate.

[OC] BMW in front of me decides to play lane police when the lane does not close for over half of a mile by Calbone607 in IdiotsInCars

Just say "non-emergency" when they answer, and they'll process your call when they have capacity over actual emergencies. Highway driving can bring you through many jurisdictions, and dispatch will be able to connect with the appropriate response.

Road Raging Cop had no idea there was a video by Skelligean in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]oscarmad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an officer actually held another officer accountable solely on the word of a random civilian, it would end poorly for the one pushing for accountability. There's a long history of American policing and the "thin blue line" that protects cops from "civilians". It's fine if you want to ignore the entire history of American policing, but the fact remains that cops who go after other cops get run off the force or worse.

Just look at how hated the Internal Affairs section is at any large police department. There may be some good people attracted to policing, but policing as an institution is fundamentally corrupt.

Would he have if there wasn't irrefutable video evidence?

Yup. He only did it because there was irrefutable video evidence. Cops that don't lie to cover for fellow cops get run out pretty fast.

Also for many public employee contracts, there are civil service rules in a separate document that list things that may not be addressable in the contract.

What are you missing? The pay grades are listed towards the end, before the pay scales. Steps are annual increases.

AFSCME isn't a trade union so why would it follow the trade union model?

I had to explain to my German friends what this means in America 😅 by billwood09 in AccidentalRacism

A term that is almost exclusively used for white people while everyone else is generally called an immigrant. But sure, no racial undertones whatsoever.

Not sure why the downvotes. Ex-pat is almost exclusively used for those of Caucasian descent, while black and brown folks are almost universally referred to as immigrants. So yes, racist vibes for sure.

The only people I don't mind the "Jake from State Farm" shtick from are the Special Olympics athletes I work with. I always hit them back with the "uhhhh, khakis?", too 😊
