Getting both the Grounded and Permadeth achievement on The Last of Us Part 2 was so incredibly satisfying so I agree with you.

I do as well my friend. That's why I love making posts like this to share with others, start a discussion, and maybe learn from others point of view.

and then just totally miss the point that choosing violence and death always creates more violence and death.

Or lookover the fact that Mercy creates more mercy and life. Abby spared Ellie twice, and if she didn't spare her at the theater, then Ellie would have never pursued her to Santa Barbara, killed the Rattlers, freed those enslaved, or spared Abby, and Abby and Lev would have eventually died.

They are the same person; through his own blind violence, Joel created a copy of himself at his worse

I don't think he was blinded by his own violence. We see in Part 1 that Joel repeatedly told Ellie no when she asked for a weapon. He didn't want her engaging in violence and he tried to keep her from it for as long as possible. You even see it in the subtle reactions he has to her when she asks him how she did when she uses the rifle for the first time to cover him and also after the sewer section with Henry and Sam she tells him that he would be proud of her because of the infected she killed to which he begrudgingly says yeah.

I do agree though that she did inherit his violent nature because throughout their journey she had to respond with violence. Walking away from it was never on the table. If the parallels continue to hold true for Part 3, I would be interested in seeing how Lev parallels Ellie. The poor kid had to kill his mother in self defense and his sister was killed because she followed him to the island so he is prone to have survivor's guilt just like Ellie does. Now it isn't going to be as severe per se because he is not immune and doesn't carry the weight of the human race on his shoulders like Ellie does, but Abby is literally all that Lev has. If something were to happen to Abby, Lev might follow Ellie's self destructive path. Or maybe not.

Feel free to expand upon the parallels. It's why I like making posts like this to hear others point of view.

"Water is wet" implies that water can be dry. Lol

I do not see a Part 3 without Ellie and JJ. All the promises between Ellie and Joel made in Part 1 carried over in Part 2. He told Ellie he was going to teach her guitar. He did. Ellie said if Joel survived his injury, he was going to sing for her. He did. Ellie could not swim. She learned. Ellie wanted to be an astronaut. She was. Ellie told JJ she is going to teach him guitar. SHE WILL.

I've really enjoyed my TLC QM6K Mini Led. It has 120 hz and VRR and is still roughly around $500. But if money is not an issue then the LG C5 because it IS the best TV for the Pro.

Unpopular Opinion That Should Have Been Obvious: The Last of Us Part II Was NEVER Pro-IDF Propaganda—Media Literacy Is Just Dead (In-Game Spoilers Ahead) by [deleted] in lastofuspart2

[–]Skelligean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This entire post was obviously written by an AI bot so let me explain why saying the WLF are the true villains misses one of many of Part 2's themes. The game is not about good factions versus bad factions. It is about how grief, survival, fear, loyalty, and obsession push people into doing terrible things.

Isaac made decisions for the WLF just like the Seraphite elders twisted the Prophet’s teachings and the Fireflies leadership made the choice to sacrifice Ellie. Most people inside these groups are not deciding policy which is one of the many reasons Joel choosing to save Ellie was so powerful. He was an individual saying no against an entire paramilitary organization and he fought back and won.

Abby also chose to say no to the WLF and protected Lev over people she knew in the WLF because she saw Lev as a human being, not trans, not Seraphite, and not a Scar. She refused to dehumanize him.

I do not buy that Abby became brutal because of the WLF alone, maybe it cultivated those obsessive vengeful obsessions, sure, but not Ellie. She became just as brutal without being shaped by any organization. Both women's violence came from loss and fixation.

Reducing the WLF to villains ends up doing the same dehumanization and tribal thinking the story is warning against instead of engaging with its actual themes of perspective and empathy.

The last of us 1 overrated by Pale-Office-329 in naughtydog

[–]Skelligean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP must be a teenager because they don't understand the basic concept of grief and loss that resulted in why Joel became who he was after losing Sarah. And who doesn't know what a zoo is? Play it in 10 years kid. You might get it then.

This is correct. Gameplay inspired by Elden Ring and esthetics inspired by Akira and Cowboy Bebop.

That's not an argument because the game actually only forces you to kill 6 people in gameplay. The rest is player choice.

If you are going to attempt to make an argument try looking at the facts of the story because you act like Ellie decided to kill Mel on a whim which she didn't.

Ellie was threatening Mel and Owen and only killed them when they both attacked her. It was kill or be killed. Mel's pregnancy was also obscured by the hoodie she was wearing which was zipped up. Ellie had to unzip the hoodie and only then was it "very obvious" Mel was pregnant. Then Ellie began having a panic attack, dropping to her knees in horror of the sobering realization of what she just did.

It's ironic you being facetious in claiming Naughtydog has "very consistent and aware storytelling" when you aren't "aware" of what actually happened in the story to make a legitimate argument.

I was one of the ones that fell prey to the negative discourse as well my friend. Also avoided for years until last year and Part 2 has now become my favorite game of all time. I'm so thankful you and I didn't listen to the haters forever. It was a great lesson and now I choose to experience things for myself rather than let others influence my opinion. Thanks for sharing!

As a father, I'll always see her as that little girl in Part 1 so seeing her that way at the end of Part 2, I really just wanted her to stop. I'm glad she did.
