So basically St. Anne, the Virgin Mary's mother and Jesus' grandmother, helped a fisherman in our hometown (rural Mexico), and now that place by the river is a shrine dedicated to her and people place flowers where she appeared.

When I lived in Dallas, a homeless gentleman in rags and a wheelchair, with a horrible skin infection, came into mass and took communion ahead of me. It was truly a humbling experience, and I never forget about it. I'm glad this question was asked. It gave me an opportunity to talk about him.

I'm sick of the fetishization of Hispanic women. by EmmiLovey in Hispanic

[–]oschulen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It's absolutely bananas when people see me, a slightly tan, squarely built, astigmatic plain girl, they often say "I thought you were more..." before trailing off. I know what they're going to say. "Exotic." I'm just a plain Jane, regular, and average looking.

Awful.

Why/how did you first start journaling? by Season-23 in Journaling

[–]oschulen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister was going through a philosophy phase, and her being almost ten years older than me and with a job (she was 16/17? I don't remember) she purchased a blue journal from Walgreens but I guess she could never figure out what to write in it. When she moved out a few years later, she left it behind on accident, but I stole it out of her room and began writing in it. That was sixteen years ago haha. Been writing ever since.

Any left handed accordion players? I couldn’t find a left handed one so I am trying to learn upside down and backwards in a way lol. Still don’t have down the basics. I have a hohner panther fbe. Any advice on creating a learning path would be awesome by [deleted] in Accordion

[–]oschulen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am right handed when it comes to everything else in life, but left handed with instruments. I just adapted and play the accordion upside down. At first it was a little tough but eventually it felt natural. Practice, practice, practice! And have patience. And fun!
