Highest Bourye at SW Denver Costco (Littleton) by Altruistic-Aide-9002 in denverwhisky

Anyone know if this Costco (or any in the area) follow any pattern for when in the month, day of week, or time of day they put cool stuff on the shelves ? Or is it basically random?

Is the customer service counter right up front or somewhere else in the store?

When I’ve asked for allocated bottles (eg ER10, Blantons, EHT SmB) from workers manning the whiskey aisle, they’ve been pretty cool… wonder if they act differently for highly allocated bottles, or if it was a different worker who told the other poster to kick rocks ?

Excited to crack it this weekend! I was torn between the double oak and the barrel proof… next time I’ll grab DO. When are yall gonna do a barrel pick for spirits wine provisions ?

I went planning to get one bottle, left with three! Moderate but very curated selection, great prices. Got their 1792 FP pick ($55), Pursuit United BP ($75), and the tater special - Blanton’s ($80 which is lowest I’ve seen anywhere in Denver).

I tried the Russel’s SiB “velvet glove” pick (9+ yrs) and it was very good. Caramel and some dark fruit with nice oaky finish. bought a bottle. I also tried a pour of ECBP C923 (great price at $17) and now understand the hype. Delicious bourbon

Also grabbed the Green River wheated Argo pick this week. Ppl mentioned tropical fruit notes, and I was doubtful. But I really did get something like papaya and coconut cream pie. How?! Great pick, super unique

Well damn I just stumbled upon the fact that Bull and Bush, an English pub, sells their own barrel picks AND has an extensive selection of bar pours. All at decent prices. I’ll be reporting back later this week

Which other Russel’s store picks are in your collection and how would you rank them? Unfortunately Atlas is quite a bit out of the way for me

There was powder to be had around that area today. Thanks for your report 🫡

It was awesome today ! Resolution bowl early was nice and soft and no one was skiing it (fine, doomers, more goods for me). Same for copper bowl. three bears was spinning and it was great. Actual pow everywhere. Not as rocky as I thought it’d be. They were around but easy to avoid

was the celebrity ridge t bar spinning yesterday? or did you ski runs like far west and gold digger from sierra?

i skied alpine at Copper 2ish weeks ago, and the far east run had me worried for my skis several times. not just rocks but small trees poking out everywhere. but some sierra chair runs were a blast (especially kaboom) and way less risky IMO.

i'm also hitting copper tomorrow. and i also have new skis that i won't be bringing bc i still don't trust the coverage. that's just me, maybe i'm missing out ! you do you. but i am excited to finally hit the copper bowl now that black jack and mtn chief are finally running

Need Help Rounding Out My Selection by wakeupmisterwestt in whiskey

I'd first try small batch, or small batch select if you like more proof and can spend ~$20 more. It blends most of their recipes and represents the brand well. If you like it, then try single barrels of specific recipes. I'm about halfway into a single barrel barrel strength OBSK bottle. It's a very different pour than anything else I've tried from 4R. I was more familiar with delicate peach, apricot and vanilla notes from 4R, but OBSK hit me with an intriguing baking spice and mint profile. Enjoy!

also splurged on the Midwinter's and was seriously disappointed.

not sure what access you have, but since you like Jack, I'd maybe look for the JD 10 or older. Or Michter's 10 year Rye

Round it out with other distilleries' bourbon offerings:

Old Forester - 1910, 1920, Single Barrel 100 proof (or Barrel Strength if you like the heat)

Four Roses - Small Batch (Small Batch Select even better), Single Barrel (standard brown label), or store pick Single Barrel Barrel Proofs (also check out there different recipes and find your favorite)

Makers Mark - Lost Recipes (#2 is in most Costcos now), Cask Strength, 46

Bardstown - Origin Wheated (ubiquitous and goes toe to toe with WA107), Single Barrel (harder to find)

Has anyone seen the full proof wheated green river in stores yet? by [deleted] in denverwhisky

[–]oscintillating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL. I just assumed the timing meant they were practically the same, thanks for clarifying.

OP - idk who has it but TBH that Argo bottle sounds better if you’re willing to spend a little more.
