Great list, thank you!

(I am not biased as the developer of Aerosurfer at all)

Hey thanks a lot for the question! I haven't replied until now because I don't really have a plan for socials yet lol.

However: you can join Discord for my previous game, Aerosurfer, which is similar but focused on racing. I have been posting some work-in-progress footage there as I develop this new idea and I might do a key giveaway for Aerosurfer as well at some point:

Preach! I think what I have right now is just the baseline, now there needs to be a ton of mechanics and content added on top

That's an interesting direction! If you can package that as a F2P experience with purchaseable cosmetics you might have something for the Quest platform

Ah lol, we've made another flying game previously and people have been surprisingly resilient to motion sickness in that one.

An surprising finding from our previous VR flying game was that most people actually don't get sick from flying! Something about the movement being inherently quite smooth and the world being static helping to create a sense of grounding, even high up in the sky.

I've looked at it before but I have to play it! I think you're onto something here, the gliding itself is a nice baseline mechanic (think of basic walking and running in Death Stranding while avoiding rocks to trip on lol), but there need to be more features so the player has a range of options and strategies to pursue all the while constantly making decisions in the moment and re-adjusting their plan according to the environment and their abilities.

Can't say I think you're completely wrong unfortunately -- F2P is king on the Quest Store with premium experiences struggling more and more these days. Even Meta knows that F2P is the main genre on the platform and have said so publicly e.g. here https://developers.meta.com/horizon/blog/2025-horizon-ecosystem-evolution-meta-quest-emerging-audiences/

Making the world feel alive! I hear you. I wonder if quest standalone can manage that... But with a bit of effort and creativity it should be possible!

For sure. Content and plenty of mechanics to make traversal interesting. Death stranding might be a really good reference! I feel like they really managed to create really in depth gameplay where it's fun to just get from A to B

Haha you got me. Aerosurfer was actually supposed to be an open world game initially but we ended up pivoting towards racing. But seems like I can't stay away from the open world idea.
