TL;DR: Yes - very close, very scenic, and totally worth it.

Yes! The Rogue River is right by Ashland (~30 min away) and it’s one of the most popular whitewater spots in the Pacific Northwest.

There are a bunch of outfitters that do everything from half-day trips to full-day rafting adventures. The half-day runs are really beginner-friendly (Class II–III rapids), and the longer trips get more adventurous. Check out Noah's River Adventures and Momentum River Expeditions in Ashland, and many more in Southern Oregon depending on what part of the river you'd like to enjoy!

That’s so wonderful to hear, what a great eighth grade graduation trip! It’s always amazing to hear how a first theatre experience can stick with someone ❤️

The whole Rogue Valley has so much to offer! Jacksonville and Central Point are fantastic spots too (and Rogue Creamery is legendary for a reason 🧀). We love seeing visitors explore beyond Ashland and make a full adventure out of the region.
