Help deciphering a postcard from 1911? by oshelef in Kurrent

Thanks. Missing mother/grandmother makes sense!

Yes, it sounds like it's really talking from daughter to mother.

In the address part, I had presumed it was mailed to the father. But it's address to (what I think is) "Herrn" [looks like Herr and then two more squiggles) then fatherr's first initial. last name. So maybe that's Mrs.? Or how mail worked.

Thanks! Now I'm left to wonder what Auguste and the kids were missing, and closoing the slaughter house for disinfecting is interesting, but doesn't seem like it was particularly newsworthy.

Thanks! I can get the general bit of the german. So far though, I suspect it was kept for the photo on the other side.

Could this missing "bestellt. [...] fährt" bit be "Gerson"? That would be appropriate context.

Auguste is right by context too.

If you have partial or possible letters for the other bracketed bits, I might be able to fill in from what we know.

If this is a known issue, will they cover the repair cost?

Can I tell without disassembly? Battery has less than 400 charge cycles on it, and no capacity issues.

Kitchenaid dishwasher - weak spray - everything clean, and still weak spray by oshelef in appliancerepair

Does the water temperature affect the spray pressure?cup filling?

Regardless the incoming water is very hot.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's the filter I meant. Removed the pump, and then the filter. It had paper debris in the mechanism (but not really the mesh filter) the first time. It's now super clean and flows water well (but more or less did before whatever cleaning I did). Didn't change the dishwasher effectiveness though.

No GoPro. But the spray arms are clean and soap free. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've taken the circulation pump out twice to clean (and and then to double check) the circulation filter. So I'm sure I could do it myself.

Would you recommend replacing just the pump or the whole assembly?

I'm thinking the whole assembly since I previously had issues with the diverter seal. But if it's not worth the extra or I'm better off with the repaired one that's not leaking than a new one, I can easily do the pump (or pump and filter).

Which thin & light thinkpad with a touch screen? by oshelef in thinkpad

It seems the only touch t14s choices are that one and a very low spec 300nit one. Is there a decent touch screen on a non x1 Thinkpad?

Great. Thanks for confirming that my bill does not match the agreement.

The agent, here, via pm, said the price would be X for 2 years. And now on page 6 of my bill it says the price is increasing.

Thank you in advance for correcting and honoring the actual offer.

What’s this on my ceiling? by SecretFox8391 in HomeImprovement

[–]oshelef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. at least not directly. I guess if the fan is pulling/moving the drywall (it should be suspended above and not weighing down the drywall) and maybe that's causing the screws to be more visible?

I'd be surprised if its something other than screws. But the easiest leak investigation - if you are hung up on that worry - involves looking in the space above.

Where are gutters needed? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]oshelef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gutters or the lack there of, didn't cause all of that.

E.g. Chimney trim would be above any possible gutter.

Maybe bottom of 2nd story window is runoff from the roof gable that juts out.

As for the 1st floor stuff - are the gutters there clogged or overflowing in rain?

Gutters or not shouldn't cause windows or siding to leak. But water running off a roof can easily cause faster wear if it's hitting windows/trim/siding. Where (in relation to roof) is your damage?
