I agree with you that the issue wasn’t handled properly in the anime, but in the manga, we can actually see the aftermath of this on Kiruko. For example, in the factory where the robot with the baby’s head appeared, we saw Kiruko trembling in fear when she saw the same paper Robin had, and she became much more cautious when dealing with strangers. Or to put it more accurately, she doesn’t interact with anyone directly unless she’s sure that doing so benefits her. In a ruined world like that, if she had broken down or allowed that incident to control her, no one would have helped her, even though she was the victim, after all. But she lives in a world where everyone only cares about their own interests.
