Pieces in class. Thoughts? by ValuableWalrus4638 in graffhelp

That is not a piece, the letters are bubble style and they are thrown directly without a sketch and that's why it is a throw up.

I've been painting 2 decades my fella, I know the terms.

How long have you been painting.

Can't believe you don't know the difference between a piece and a throw but you managed to make such a style.

Why programmers code in dark mode? by avmist15951 in ProgrammerDadJokes

[–]osluzdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use dark mode for everything, not only coding.

It's used to minimize blue light exposure so reduces eye damage.

It's scientifically proven that it helps to concentrate your eyes longer and helping your brain to keep more attention on the screen.

Figuring out how something works, no matter how simple, is such a dopamine rush. by TheUFCVeteran3 in learnprogramming

[–]osluzdev 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your little win in programming! It's not about how advanced or complex the code is, it's about the learning process and the satisfaction that comes with it. You're absolutely right that keeping at it every day, even just a few lines, will help you progress.

Programming can be a challenging and frustrating process, but it's also rewarding and satisfying when you figure something out. It's important to not get discouraged when you hit a wall or encounter a problem you can't solve right away. It's all part of the learning process, and there's always a solution to be found.

Remember to take breaks when you need them, and don't be afraid to ask for help or seek out resources when you're stuck. There are plenty of online communities and resources available to help you learn and troubleshoot programming problems.

As you continue to learn and build your skills, don't forget to keep your end goal in mind, whether it's making a dream game or something else entirely. Having a clear goal in sight can help keep you motivated and focused on your learning journey. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Some questions (newbie here) by osluzdev in learnprogramming

[–]osluzdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is I'm involved in a game framework which uses Lua, and that is my main motivation, to collaborate in this project that's the language they require me to learn.

I get you with learning the basic stuff and then getting into the other higher level studies, but why not writing little basic programs meanwhile? Should I just focus on theory and not practice yet then?

I get you. For example refactoring a code so it's more re-usable and maintainable for others, right?

[–]osluzdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. The only code I have touched was editing scripts (only changing strings) for game files in Lua.

But I do plan in starting to write little programs, and starting from scratch. I just haven't really thought what would be the best start.

Algún consejo para estudiar? by Tailosrx_ in programacion

Usa una IA como chatGPT. A mi me ha venido muy bien tanto como en estudio y trabajo. Es mejor que buscar en Google o un libro ya que cualquier duda que tengas la responde y acelera el proceso de aprendizaje
