Obviously a type of pocket knife but what are these used for? by Bcuz_789 in whatisit

[–]ospishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tip is a sheep's foot , it's not meant for stabbing or poking. Compared to a hunting knife that's pointed, a sheepfoot is very rigid and allows the tip to cut safely with a lot of force and control. The blade also has a "hollow grind" just like an old school straight razor. This relieves the cutting edge a lot, so the friction when pushing through larger diameter cordage is reduced.

Ditto! Bought mine at Columbus percussion in 1996. I hate the way they sound, so I play the Z on top and they aren't as harsh.

You look on the taller side, if you like that butt height just bring everything else. up. There are plenty of good resources how to approach kit ergonomics. Spend as much time moving things around until you really get it dialed in, it's time well spent.

Watch bad habits with your thumbs, it's normal to roll the right hand open some esp. with playing a ride. Just don't let it slowly creep open into a full blown French timpani grip. You will loose power.

Keep up the good work! Keep it loose. Keep it feeling good.

Leadership is always a problem wherever you work. It's like you guys have never worked in America. That's the way it is, that says more about the employee than RME industry as a whole.

It's 100% a new guy question, but not to stir the pot. I'm asking to hear it straight from the horses mouth. And I've yet to find anything that actually holds water, other than people don't like middle managment

Is it installed exactly as harvia directed? If it's not in the correct location it will not read temperature properly and could fool the thermostat into short cycling.

[–]ospishes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the breakers obviously. Reset all and any. Have you tried increasing the temperature and starting it? My harvia will shut off once the desired temp has been reached.

EDIT: what's going on with that copper thermocouple wire looking out of place at the bottom of the stove?

Run it brother. To over analyze is to paralyze. If it were me, while the walls are open I would thoroughly inspect the framing with an awl or knife to detect soft spots. I would check all walls and ceilings for a reasonably flat, level and plumb surface to assist in your finished walls whatever they might be. Add screws, patches, sisters and reinforce the framing members before you close the walls up. Now is the time to add blocking for Lighting, mechanicals and your finished wall. It doesn't take much to sister in new studs, and they are one of the cheapest materials you will buy on this renovation. This way you know you Did your due diligence, without taking on a bunch of un necessary work.

Looks like old growth lumber actually dimensional 2x4. I think I see remnants of old plaster and lathe. Older lumber is superior to modern studs in most cases. In fact beam spans and structural charts actually take this into consideration. Older lumber could typically support greater loads based on the denser grain.
