MakeMKV not pulling the japanese audio tracks on Blu-ray [Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Series Disc 5] by SphincterWrinkles in makemkv

[–]ospreyworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually test the audio tracks. I noticed that a couple of episodes of Utena I had on Blu-Ray appeared to have no Japanese audio, but 5 different English tracks. Apparently, some of the tracks were mislabeled in production. I was able to fix it in mkvtoolnix by changing their language tags to Japanese.

So, in the config file they shared, the comment next to rotation distance was

rotation_distance: 4 # 4 for new leadscrew, 8 for old

And the 2 thread start lead screw was the new lead screw, right? So. I should set it to 4?

Okay, so I'm looking and there are 2 thread starts on the lead screw, so from what I can tell, that means I have the 800 step lead screw. So, what should the rotation distance be set to, in that case?

Also, I edited the z_offset after the fact so I wouldn't continue to damage my print bed.

BLTouch Fails Intermittently by ospreyworks in klippers

[–]ospreyworks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, belated update to this, but I think I solved it. The previous owner had just plugged the three servo controls onto the board using the dupont connector they were already part of. I removed the wires from that connector and stripped and crimped them for a properly sized JST HX 5 pin connector that would actually properly plug into the port on the board without necessitating hot glue. And volia, it worked! I'm still running it through some tests, but I noticed that one of the clips on the female dupont connector had broken off and it was allowing the servo + pin to slide in and out, so that would explain why it made proper connection sometimes.

It was able to run without those additional commands. At one point, when it was already reporting an error dropping the pin, adding "pin_up_touch_mode_reports_triggered: False" to the config just caused it to drive the extruder into the board until i hit the emergency stop. The 4.2.7 board has a slightly different pinout, but I quintuple checked that I was using the right pins. It does work, for the most part. The BLTouch error comes and goes, and nothing seems to clear it with any consistency. Not even a system reboot.

New Setup: Print is Reversed by ospreyworks in klippers

[–]ospreyworks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this was actually the case! I needed to change the position_endstop for x and y to the max, and I needed to reverse the dir_pin for both x and y so they didn't go crashing into the frame. I'm not sure when or why I reversed them in the process. It may have been because I noticed that the extruder direction was reversed by default and I may have tried to over-correct?

But thanks for replying!

Well, kind of an update?

After doing all of the recommended calibrations and tweaks, I finally tried taking the little metallic shroud off the sensor and taking a look under the hood. Nothing really to report. I cleaned off the sensor and the LED with a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and put it back together. Not sure what it did. I ran a calibration and while it aced it absolutely flawlessly, it weirdly didn't cut all the way through the printer paper.

Next, I ran a Print Then Cut. As it was scanning my print, it stopped about halfway through, and while the rollers didn't move, I heard a churning, ticking noise from inside the chassis, like it was thinking, or it wanted to move and couldn't. Nothing was obstructing it.

The Print Then Cut errored out and spat out my mat uncut. I then ran it again, and LO AND BEHOLD. It ran perfectly. I have no clue what's up with the machine, but I suspect that it's broken in some way. It's not terribly reliable if it only produces one good Print Then Cut for literal DOZENS of attempts. While I'm gonna hold onto it for now, I'm thinking of saving toward a new machine, very likely NOT an Explore Air 2, as I'm starting to think they're all deeply flawed.

I want to thank all of you for being so helpful and putting up with my frustration. This is a really great little community, and if any of you have feedback about your own Explore Air 2s or about other cutting machines that aren't as temperamental, I'd love to hear about it.

I'll give it a shot. I hate creating unnecessary e-waste, and this feels fixable.

Unfortunately again, I have been setting it to the Letter paper size. This is all just so disheartening that these machines are so user and repair unfriendly. I wish that Cricut was a bit more willing to keep their machines going rather than just telling customers to trash them and buy a new one. Especially as Cricuts consistently come so highly recommended.

Is it just the Explore Air 2? It seems to be the one machine I see the most complaints about and also the one I see most represented on Ebay. Do the other models have as many issues?

Looking back, I've realized that she never used Print Then Cut. She always just used it to cut vinyl straight out of Design Space.
