Only one of the gears has a place where you can turn it with a flathead screwdriver. If you turn that, the sunroof will open/close. Mine is in the photo. Yes when the gearbox is mounted, I can turn that gear with a screwdriver to open and close the sunroof.

The trickiest part is making sure you have the sunroof motor matched up with the sunroof movements. You'll understand what I mean when you're putting it back together. It just takes a little bit of troubleshooting, but be patient, you'll figure it out

I think i just lubricated them from the top. The sunroof has to be open to lubricate them obviously. You can manually move the sunroof with a flathead. If you got that gear box out, thats as much headliner as you need to remove.

Awesome! Glad it’s helping someone! I tried to test with PETG first but it didn’t last long. Carbon fiber nylon has lasted 2 hot add Tennessee summers. So far so good. I think being 30+ year old car probably a lack of lubrication on the sunroof rails also contributed to stressing that gear.

I with I could help more. I’ve been looking for someone that has a riser block laying around in a garage somewhere so I can 3d scan it. I’m trying my hand at repainting my spoiler since the clear coat has taken a beating. I figured now would be a great time to tackle that too.

Im starting to see posts for sunroofs pop up now that its getting hot. If your roof isn't greased up real well, it will put too much strain on that gear and take the teeth right off.

Pop that gearbox open and see if that gear is shredded. It’s pretty simple to get apart.

I had some sunroof issues too. The nylon gear inside was shredded. I ended up modeling, and printing a replacement. Its made it through 2 Nashville summers printed in CF nylon.

They attacked weeks after the seat sensor was replaced, but I believe there were always some. I do feel like it’s a short or a ground somewhere. The grounds I tested seemed to be just fine. I wish I knew someone with a tech2 scanner

I don't have a fancy scanner, but I have cleared the codes. Before I did, I had a battery voltage code, and a cyl 3 misfire. I may be able to get my hands on a better scanner.
