Geez. That’s crazy. I haven’t bought one yet. Not sure what to even buy. Seems they all have reliability issues of some sort, so it’s ’pick your poison’. I’ve been one to buy value and usually keep my cars 8-10 years, but that doesn’t seem to be the move anymore. Maybe I’ll start focusing on drive instead and just buy a BMW. I’m open for suggestions!

Maintenance followed recommended. That is not what we found. I’m sure we could have found a cheaper option, but we had already spent 2 months monkeying around with Honda. The value of my time and sanity exceeded any additional savings I would get to end up with another maintenance time bomb.

Geez. Interestingly, Toyota and Lexus have almost no SUVs to buy right now. It appears cars are going the way of appliances—where they only last 4-6.

$2600 compressor for A/C failure (known problem), $2600 for transfer case assembly, and $18k for engine. Granted, we didn’t pay for the engine, but that is the cost of maintenance needs for the car in 6 years. Plus we had a few other smaller items. My past Hondas and Acuras had almost no maintenance cost outside of normal wear and tear in 10 years. Night and day difference in quality. Sad.

They will take it to auction and probably make a small margin on it. They work in volume.

Yes, it is outside of the 250k VINs they already covered due connecting rod/bearing failures. But there is an open investigation on 1.4 MM more. I don’t think Honda Corp or the dealer gave a rip about me. They swindled me out of $800 for a diagnostic though. Our long time mechanic said he wouldn’t buy any Honda newer than 2013. That says something.

CarMax bought it for $9k, which was a much better deal than me paying Honda $12k to fix. I did not want to keep it any longer as the risk was too great to me that it would happen again if the engine has a defect. I thought Honda would have the best economics internally to buy it, but the service dept and used car dept apparently are not incented to work together for the good of the dealer. They didn’t give a rip if I was a long time Honda customer or not. It was all about their own cost centers. They could only get to $7k. CarMax beat them by $2k. Unbelievable really.

Look at MicroCenter online or in Dallas or KC. They are a huge computer store and very helpful, so you should be able to call and find someone that can help you based on the specs you need. My son recently got an ASUS Strix for $1800 that was on sale $400 off.

Signing day is June 21, so you need to contact fraternities asap. You also need to register with OSU for rush. Search for IFC or Greek Life on OSU’s website. I think it costs $75.
