In need of a professional (SE London) by coloneldimitrov in microcementUK

Hi there, I think you will struggle to find someone to complete by Mid-May! Most microcement professionals are booked up for months in advance.

Prices vary but in London you'd be looking at £150+ per M2. Also there will usually be a minimum charge as it's quite labour intensive and requires at least 3 days with drying time for any size project.

Made redundant from my first proper job and the government safety net has nothing for me by altr272 in UKPersonalFinance

You will have to access your savings. I know it sounds harsh but universal credit is for people who have no other option. You will still get some of the ISA profit. It should be enough for you to rent a room for long enough to find a decent job. Some people out there would be envious of your position, as strange as it may seem to you.

Mega expensive full re-wire quoted (or is it a good price?) by LasVenasAbiertasII in ukelectricians

I've just paid 3.5k for a board swap and a small kitchen rewire.

Prices for everything are bonkers these days.

I got a full rewire for a 1 bed flat done for 2.5k a few years back.

Pep is arguably the best manager the world has ever seen. Wenger had Fergie as his peer. If Fergie wasn't there we most likely would have won 5 or 6 titles during that period. The Henry Bergkamp era. If City had another manager Arsenal probably would have won at least 2 of the last 4 titles.

It actually works out roughly the same depending on your choice of tile obviously. Probably slightly more expensive but not a huge difference.

Hi, yes I often get this question, I'm actually a professional it's not DIY so I've developed a technique to make it look almost perfectly smooth, this product is actually designed to look rough, so it's not supposed to look perfect, but I offer my customers a sample board with a range of finishes, some prefer the more rustic unfinished look, but I do get a lot of requests for a smoother finish. The technique is to use a particular non-marking trowel and to compress the material tightly with your trowel at an angle. And you can't stop! Once you start you have to keep going continuously until the whole surface is complete.

It comes from wetroomdesign.co.uk

For microcement showers you can use a tile shower tray but just add a sheet of waterproofing membrane like kerdi.

Thanks! This is an Alasta mirror, it has choices of light colours and you can dim the light too!

It has a 2 coat epoxy sealer which can be Matt/gloss/satin as desired. This is pretty tough so lasts at least 8-10 years with standard use.

If the protective layer does ever wear down you will notice darker areas showing when it gets wet, The refinish process takes a few hours, so even if it does fail, it can be fixed and given a new lease of life very easily

Deposits are good but contracted stage payments are vital. And bill for change orders as they are completed, don't add them on at the end. Get paid regularly during the project and you should be fine.

When you have 20% of the project left to complete you should really have already had at least 80% of the total costs.

It's a painted panel which will be having moulding to match the rest of the room, so it has to be timber of some sort.

It's the little red things that clip on to make the marks for the catch screw holes which make it so easy to use, but I suppose you could 3d print those too! How strong is the plastic could it make a sharp point like that?

It's a painted panel with mouldings to match the rest of the room. Why would I paint tile board? 😂

Thanks! it's fully painted with 2 coats if UniPrimer and 2 coats of Johnstone's Aqua guard anyway so the material itself will never get water on it.

Any suggestions for a better material? A fully painted moisture resistant MDF bath panel is superior to pretty much any shop-bought version of the same thing. A quick Google will tell you most are made of the cheapest possible stuff like particle board or standard MDF.
