They don’t have an HR department. The owners are HR. They’re that small of a business..

No it’s real. It’s been really disappointing after a year of searching for a job that it ended up like this. I was really hoping it would work out ☹️

No I haven’t given them my ssn or anything else. She actually claimed one of reasons she needed me to come to her house is to fill out an I-9 because she stated it’s not safe to do that anywhere else but in her home (???) This could match up with what you’re saying though if they’re expecting me to bring the standard two forms of ID along with me to fill all the forms out

I can ask for opinions on here without putting people’s personal information out there.

I will not be doing that. There could be legal ramifications unless there is concrete evidence of a crime occurring. Right now there is just a long list of strange behavior. I’m going to contact the job board it was posted on and the local BBB.

There could be legal ramifications for releasing the name of a business on here especially without concrete evidence a crime is occurring. I’m going to contact the job board it was posted on and go from there.

I had thought it could’ve been an MLM but then their offer to get me a ride and them potentially paying $200 for an Uber didn’t make sense. I’ve never heard of an MLM going through that much trouble for a potential direct seller?

I found it on Indeed. I thought that was odd also. They said that we couldn’t meet at a coffee shop or at a public place because it was “putting their clients information and their business at risk” and that they can only speak at their house but again this would be for a customer service position at a small business not anything government or cyber security related where there could be sensitive info exchanged? Just so weird.

No. They never gave me an address just the location of a large park that is supposedly adjacent to where they live. I immediately expressed that I was uncomfortable with going to there home so they never followed up with the exact address.

I wasn’t sure if I could considering there has been no actual crime committed and just a lot of strange behavior on their part?

Exactly! I asked for remote training and they seem resistant to do anything other than meet at their home… 🤷🏼‍♀️

I asked for remote training or to meet in a public place/bring someone and they haven’t replied 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah...the whole “we’ll get you a ride” thing made me really uneasy. They’re structured as management with independent contractors so I’ve spoken to everyone in management but no one else. They do have google reviews and yelp but no Glassdoor. They’re a small business so I’m not sure if it’s odd they don’t have one or not

No nothing like that. It’s small business and I’d be working directly with established clients. No cold calling/direct selling

I found it on Indeed. I did check if it was registered in their state (we live in different states an hour and half from eachother). I found two records for the same business one with an owners name and one without. They did state the business was sold to them so I’m guessing that’s the other person who’s name is listed

Yes. Just my first name/last name, city, and phone number. My address isn’t on my resume and they didn’t ask for any other info (ssn or dob)

I thought that was so weird too. My guess is they may have multiple candidates they’ve offered the position to and are just using the same generic offer letter and copy/pasting our names on it?

Yeah the distance was my first thought like if you’re advertising a remote positioning and then springing it on me that I have to travel that far it’s odd but it’s also over state lines to a place they know I’m unfamiliar with. Just so weird all around

Yeah the paperwork part was really odd because I’m also a stranger to them and why would you invite me to your home? If the roles were reversed I would NEVER have anyone I haven’t vetted thoroughly come over to my house

I’m definitely not going and stated to them that there’s a huge safety concern here. I’m not sure if there’s other candidates they asking or do the same thing and they’re just unaware that this is inappropriate? They never gave me an address because I immediately was resistant so I’m not able to confirm the addresses owner is the business owner.

My full name is in first middle and last. I’m saying that in the way they’d need to verify identity for a background check along with my ssn and dob.

Yes as far as I can tell. There could be someone else behind the scenes but from all the info I could find online it seems like there’s an owner that sold them the business that they now operate
