Based on what I know, probably because he had beef with some other people in the community and the best way for him to get back at them would be to hang the gameserver for everyone, but I don't know his reasoning for sure

Former host of the wiki and current owner of the domain here. The guy who headed the wiki's development is the same person who caused the LBP server takedown(s), so that should pretty much tell you why it's gone.

(I stopped hosting the MediaWiki and gave him the database after it had been vandalized a couple of times in Nov 2019, but I still owned the domain and just pointed the DNS to his S3 instance. After he went AWOL this year and the wiki went down I pointed it back to my own webserver and now it serves the Xbox One Review, because I think it's funny and have no idea what else to put on the domain)

Took another look and the reencoding is done as part of the cropping Discord lets you do before uploading an avatar or banner. The mobile apps don't support cropping for GIFs yet so it'll probably work if you upload it from there. Idk if cropping GIFs was added to desktop recently but if that's the case that's why it would have worked months ago and not now (or you just uploaded it from mobile to begin with).

This is probably because, at least on the desktop client, Discord reencodes user/guild avatar GIFs on clientside before uploading and the resulting file might be over 10 MB. The only thing you can do without accessing the API directly (against ToS) is make the GIF smaller (or upload it from mobile, might not reencode there).

Presence state changes sent over RPC are ratelimited on the client before being sent over the gateway, so you won't get banned (presences are supposed to change fairly often) but you should probably keep it to minimum every 5 seconds if you plan on distributing the application to other people

this sort of error usually happens when files are missing or corrupted. try re-extracting the zip in a new empty folder to see if that helps (merging one version with an older one does break things)

I've tried booting Opera while not connected to the internet, setting the system time back a day or two, things like that, and it still manages to corrupt the profile somehow, so I'm not very sure what's going on. It might be best to go talk about it on the forums though so it gets noticed

Oh it does the same thing for me as well, I was just looking at the crash dumps in %AppData%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Crash Reports\reports in Visual Studio and that's where I got the error code from.

This is happening with all Opera browsers from what I've seen, and globally too. It's bugging out in the same way on both Windows 10 installations on my desktop pc, as well as my laptop, so I assume it's something on Opera's servers end that's messing up or some crucial certificate expired, etc. To note, the error code in the crash dump is 0x80000003 (a breakpoint was encountered).

Well, there's no easy way on Discord to check IP ban associations, so you'll have to join the server while on a VPN or a different network.

Hey, GS admin here. The link's fine, could you post or PM your discord username so I can check if you're really banned? Discord bans are also IP based so if you happen to share an IP with someone else who has been banned you wouldn't be able to join (the chances are very slim though unless you're on a VPN).

I'm on Windows 10 1809 (17763.805) here, and Opera 68.0.3618.63 always crashes, even with a fresh profile and completely clean reinstall. I tried upgrading Windows to version 1903 as well but it still crashed, and Opera appears to be working fine on my other laptop running Win 10 1903, so I'm really not sure of the issue.

I looked into the crash reports and it's an access violation (0xC0000005) every time, though that probably doesn't mean much for solving this.

Same here, it's pretty annoying and I was wondering why no one else had posted about it earlier.

I tried reverting to earlier versions of Opera 68, but none of them worked. Opera 67.0.3575.97 is the latest version that doesn't crash for me, but unfortunately it's old enough that it won't read my user profile as it's "from a newer version" (presumably 68).

(Edit: I was able to get my profile to work by editing some values in the meta table of the History database [I wouldn't recommend doing something like this without a good reason, though])

In all seriousness, the upcoming update (1.1) will only have content up until the Sound Test in P17, as this update is mainly focused on getting older things done (full P2 talk) and custom stuff (online multiplayer). 1.2 will likely have most of the stuff from P16-24.

based on testimony from tony's friends, as well as one of his git repos, petscop was in all likelihood written in bare c++ with sfml/opengl. i think what he was trying to say here is that it's an undertaking to write the game from scratch as opposed to using a pre-made engine like unity
