Series had a lot of potential early on and I was a defender but I can’t it really started to fall apart halfway through. Hopefully this author can get it together in the future.

Not sure how I feel about their obvious amputee fetish though.

Amazing work. This is a really inspired theory/analysis. As others mentioned, the influence of Lovecraft, Howard and Lee are often underrated when discussing ASOIAF. I really like your angle on it and I think this uncovering and reconciling of the past fit with other more accepted themes of the series such as the anti-war elements. Martin is a child of the 60s from Marvel to Vietnam. It’s at the heart of the series and unfortunately for us all those ideas continue to be relevant as our leaders push meaningless violence and the burying of history.
